Randdia girl works At Yellowstone park During the summer Geneva McComb of Randalia, has recently been employed by the Yellowstone Park Company, concess'.:naire for Yellowstone Nat'onal Park. Geneva was among approximately 2,000 persons selected from a list of over 12,000 applicants seeking summer employment in the park. As a member of the Yellowstone Park Company staff, Geneva will be active in serving the needs of the million and a half tourists visiting this season. Yellowstone Park Company employees do a variety of tasks, from hotel management tu truck driving or housekeeping. They receive salaries plus room and board. During their stay in the Park, they live in dormitories or hotels at Mammoth Springs, Old Faithful, the new Canyon Village, or Lake at elevations above 5,000 feet, featuring pleasant days and cool nights. Although Geneva will put in a full work week, she and her friends (and there are all ages employed from 18 to over 80 years of age) should have ample time to enjoy Yellowstone's wonders more fully than a tourist rushing through on his comparatively short vacation. Boating, hiking, horseback riding, square dancing and general sightseeing are, of course, available to employees, just as they are to visitors. Geneva will find, as other Yellowstone Park Company employees have found, that her summer in the high country is not isolation from the fun and stability of social and religious life. Discussion groups, dramatic productions, Bible classes and choirs are all a part of a Park summer, and the Company furnishes organs, pianos, facilities and personnel for the accomplishment of these activities. Each employee is encouraged to attend Sunday services, which are held at all locations, and work schedules are arranged to this end when requested. Employees who suffer injuries or become sick have medical personnel available at each location, and a resident physician operates the hospital at Mammoth Hot Springs, the Park Headquarters Chances are Geneva will find her summer enjoyable enough to return to Yellowstone National Park either as an employee or visitor. Dr. Sparkman stated "The primary purpose of the faculty workshop is to fulfill the students' needs while staying within the philosophy of a liberal arts college".
