Alton Evening Tnlegraph Wednesday, August 23, 1072 B-3 How to win swims It takes stiff individual discipline, good form, a tough coach and 4,500 yards of swimming a day to produce a winning swim team. Summers-Port Inc. of Godfrey has put it all together. About ffO contestants must go through rigorous training and practice every day to prepare themselves for a meet. So far this year the Summers-Port swim team has won eight first places out of the first 10 meets they have participated in. Head coach Bill Brainerd attributes the team's success to hard work, strong self discipline and constant motivation. Brainerd labels himself as a "tough coach," but says he has to be that way. Team effort combined with hard work landed the team a second place award in the •Southwestern Illinois Swimming Association's championship meet held recently in Granite City.
