Irlbeck & Grote, Aucts. FBYP Elecr but arranged to vote today. And Senate Democratic Leader Lyndon B. Johnson of Texas alerted the Senate to be ready for a mid- afternoon vote on the veto if the House overrides the President's objections. House action sent to Eisenhower a bill raising from 3 to 4 cents a gallon the tax on gasoline and | other motor fuels effective Oct. lj to assure continued construction 1 of superhighways throughout the nation. But the civil rights issue, and the controversy always provoked by the foreign aid money bill to which it is attached, held the key to adjournment possibilities. The measure goes before the Senate Saturday. Senate Republican Leader Everett M. Dirksen of Illinois said in an interview there is no chance that work on the money bill, the last major legislation of the session, can be completed before Monday. 9 Tim «s Herald, Carroll, la.
