Ledyord P.T.O. Has Meeting And Program LEDYARD - Tuesday evening, the Ledyard Community School Parent - Teacher Organization met in the school dining room. Mr. and Mrs. den Klocke were program chairman and Mrs. Klocke announced the following program: clarinet trio, Carla Engelby, Joleen Griese and Jill Bauman, and a flute duet, Marilyn Dontje and Karen Engelbarts. Mrs. Orville Brandt accompanied them. Mrs. Dallas Green discussed the hot lunch program and John Fokken, guidance counsellor, spoke of his duties. Supt. Gilbert DeBoer then led a discussion of the meeting which was held in Bancroft Monday night concerning the proposed Area ni Community College and Vocational school. Following the program, the president, Kenneth Reese, conducted the business meeting. The attendance check gave the banner to the seventh grade room and the fish bowl to the third grade. - o - Dr. Charles DeBoer has concluded a ten-day visit at the home of his parents, Supt. and Mrs. Gilbert DeBoer. He left Wednesday for Rochester, New York, where he will be employed by the Eastman Kodak Co. as a research chemist. Dr. DeBoer recently completed a year of study and research at Columbia University, New York City. Enroute to Rochester be planned to visit friends in Chicago and will spend a few days with Lt. and Mrs. Larry DeBoer at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The Ledyard Community School Lettermans Club were at Minneapolis Saturday, where they attended the Minnesota-Ohio State football game. They saw Minnesota defeat the Ohio State team 17-7. Eighteen lettermen and Coach Larry Sondergaard and Supt. Gilbert DeBoer made the trip. Mrs. J. F. Sullivan and Jeremiah visited the R. C. Nehotte family in Minneapolis Sunday. Madonna Sullivan, who had spent the weekend at home returned with them. Weekend visitors at the parental Harold Herzog home were Nancy, student at Northwestern College in Orange City, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Herzog and Cindy of Savage, Minn, and Betty Herzog and Rita Johnson of St. Paul. Mrs. Bernice Miller of Allison and Nola Folkers of Waterloo were weekend guests at the home of Mrs. Fred Dutton and Ellsworth. Mrs. S. L. Powers, Mrs. Adolph Hatten and Mrs. J. F. Sullivan attended a D.C.C.W. Deanery Workshop meeting at Algona. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hans, Swea City, were Sunday supper guests at the Earl Jorgensons. The truck from the Good will Industries will be stopping in Ledyard at the Methodist and Bethany Evangelical and Reformed churches Nov. 21. Burt Woman Is Winner Of RAVE Contest The Kossuth county RAVE contest was held Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. at the Farm Bureau building here. Mrs. Roscoe Mawdsley, Jr., Burt, was the winner with her vocal solo,"I Pledge Allegiance." There were five contestants in the contest, with the Kiilsholm family placing second with their musical selections. Others entered were Brian Carlson, Wesley, Cheryl Cunningham, Burt, and Rochslle Cunningham, Burt. Judges were George Allen, Elfrieda Clark and Genevieve Hoeppner. College Committee Constance Cassel of Algona, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo J. Cassel is serving on the decoration and refresment committee for the Sophomore Soiree, which will be held at Clarke College, Dubuque, Iowa, on November 12. Held Meetings LEDYARD - Tuesday, the Junior Girl Scouts and the Brownies held their first meeting at the Bethany Evangelical and Reformed church. There are 18 Juniors and 13 Brownies. Mrs. Victor Vriesen is leader and Mrs. Bob Jorgensen and Mrs. Robert L. Jorgenson co-leaders.
