Jersey Club Women to Open Season Thursday JERSEYVILLE.—The Woman's Club will open the 1963-64 club year with a luncheon meeting at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Baptist Church. Yearbooks will be ready for distribution at that session and dues for the year may be paid. The Public Affairs Department will be in charge of the program and special recognition will be given past presidents of the club. The board of directors, new members and charter members will be introduced and a report of the convention will be presented. Vocal music will be provided by Miss Nancy Cope of Jerseyville. Guest speaker for the program will be Mrs. James Segraves, first vice president of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs. Miss Celia Sinclair is complet ing a two-year term as president; Mrs. Lindell Walkini^ton as first vice president, and Mrs. Louis N. Heider as corresponding secretary. New officers this year include Mrs. Stephen Charow, second vice president; Mrs. John R. Walsh, recording secretary; and Mrs. Emmett Murphy, treasurer. Serving as hostesses for the initial meeting of the year are Mrs. Prentiss D. Cheney, chairman, and Mrs. Lloyd Adams, co-chairman, Mrs. M. Edwards Breed, Mrs. Charles Mourning, Miss Alma Breitweiser, and Mrs. Bert Feyerabend. Rainboiv Girls Of Jersey to Seat Officers JERSEYVILLE — Miss Mimi Grabbe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Grabbe of Jerseyville will be installed as worthy adviser of the Order of Rainbow for Girls in ceremonies to be conducted Staurday at 8 p.m. in the Masonic Temple. She succeeds Miss Judy Elierman. Miss Grnbbe is 17 and is a senior at the Jersey Community High School. Other elective officers to be seated are Miss Diane Burwig, worthy associate adviser; Miss Jan Heiderscheid, charity; Miss Judy Cope, hope and Miss Carol Kruse, faith. Miss Grabbe will select her appointive officers before the installation. UoilHas Enrollment Of 25,17'5 URBANA, III. (AP)-The University of Illinois has reported a record enrollment of 25,175 at its Urbana-Champaign campus. Dean of Admissions C. W. Sanford said Saturday this was the fifth consecutive year in which a new all-time high was reached. The 25,000 total was topped for the first time. Last year enrollment was 23,670. The undergraduate division total of 19,682 was an increase of 870 over 1962 and the graduate division enrollment of 5,493 was an increase of 545. Enrollment at the Chicago un del-graduate division at Navy Pier was 4,989, an increase of 602. Sen. Graham Will Run for Lt. Governor ELGIN, 111. (AP) — State Sen. John A. Graham of Barrington has announced his candidacy for lieutenant governor on the Republican ticket. Graham made the announce-' ment Sunday at the annual Hanover Township Republican picnic. Hewlett to Seek State Post Again PEORIA, 111. (AP)—Michael J. Hewlett, Chicago Democrat, has indicated that he plans to seek re-election as state auditor. Howlett, who was elected to his first term in 1960, made his inten tion known in an interview before a speech at a dinner sponsored by Business Opportunities for the Blind, Inc. Ho told his dinner audience that money invested in the train ing of the handicapped is recovered by the state many times over because it keeps the handicapped off relief rolls and provides broader tax base. Firemen Plan Fish Supper At Brighton BRIGHTON — A fish supper is planned for Oct. 12 by the Firemen and Firemen's auxiliary. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and run till business ceases A white elephant is to be conducted immediately after the supper. Gene Bolt is in charge of the sale. Proceeds from the event will go for fire-fighting equipment. Proceeds from a similar event held last fall were used to buy an auxiliary pump.
