Algonan Only Bruised When Car Hits Train A 17-year old Algona youth, Tom Claude, escaped with a bump on the head and bruised knees when the auto he was driving and a Northwestern Railway freight train collided on the Diagonal street crossing here at 5:35 p. m. Friday. Young Claude was taken to St. Ann hospital for observation. The auto was headed northeast on Diagonal and the train was headed southwest at the time of the mishap. The vehicles involved struck corner to corner, spinning the auto around so it faced southwest. The freight continued down the tracks about 80 feet following impact. Engineer of the train was James B. Ralston, 52, Eagle Grove, and the conductor was Lowell Jensen, also of Eagle Grove. Damage to the auto was estimated at $500. Police investigated. Lee, 74, a former resident of the Burt-Bancroft area, was buried at Burt last Thursday afternoon, following services at the Garry Funeral Chapel In Bancroft. Mr. Lee passed away the preceding Sunday In Shelbyville, Mich.
