Among other things the writer stated that "this will probably be the last letter I can get past the censor, so you had better take off the stamp for a souvenir." Not thinking much about the matter, Miss Graft removed the stamp and was shocked and stratled to find written underneath the single word, "Starving." This is but one instance of the reported desperate food conditions in Germany, which, it is expected, will phecipitate a crisis. Crossing Signs on R. P. Ry. James M. Timblin. James M. Timblin, aged 79 years, died at his home in Canoe township, near Rossiter, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He resided in that section the greater part of his lifetime and is survived by two sons and two daughters.

Carrie Guthrie. Mrs. Carrie Guthrie died at her home at Sidney, Tuesday morning, after a long illness, aged about 50 years. She was twice married, first to Mr. Thompson Hays, who died in East Mahoning, 20 years ago, and the second time to A.

K. Guthrie. The Guthrie family resided at Hortons for many years, but have lived at Sidney for the past nine years. She is survived by one son and two daughters. to the first marriage and one son to the second, Mrs.

THE DEATH RECORD A complication of diseases caused the death of Mrs. Rachel A. Stiveson, at her home in Indiana, Thursday morning at 5:30 o'clock. A few days preceding her death Mrs. Stiveson had suffered a paralytic stroke.

Surviving are these children: Charles Treble Mrs. Edward Duncan, Mrs. Peter Bender, all of Indiana; Mrs. Fred Hiller and Mrs. George Dill, both of Pitts-, burgh; Mrs.

Clara Hammers, of Canton, and a brother, Joshua Groft, I of Wekenna, Kansas. The funeral will take place from the Stiveson home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. W. L. McKeehaving charge of the service.

Mary Jane Helman, 64 years age, and wife of David J. Helman, of near Rayne church, occurred at 5 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon. Death was the result of an attack of gall stones. She leaves her husband and the following children: Lannie, of Indiana; Blair, of Illinois; Lloyd, at home and Mrs. Bertha Kelly of Tanoma.

The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Rayne church, the service to be in charge of A. L. South, of Clymer. Infirmities incident to old age caused the death of Mrs. Elinor Findley, widow of John Findley, of White township, at her home on Saturday, May 5, aged 92 years.

She is survived by a son and daughter, Slyvester Findley, of Brushvalley township, and Miss Lavina Findley, who resided with her mother. The funeral service was held on Monday, interment being made in Oakland cemetery, at Indiana. Mrs. Sarah C. Conner.

Mrs. Elinor Findley. The death of Mrs. Sarah C. Conner occurred at her home near Davis postoffice in Washington township, on Friday, May 4, of liver trouble, aged 73 years.

Her husband died several years ago. She is survived by several children. The funeral service was held Monday forenoon, interment being made in the Crooked Creek Baptist church graveyard, near Chambersville. A. Boggs, of Indiana, was here on business, Wednesday. T. G. Murray and Ed Kimmel were at Pittsburgh, Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wynn motored to Indiana on Sunday.

Wine underwent an operation on her eyes for the removal of a cataract, at her home in Indiana on Monday. The operation was successful and it is thought the lady's eyesight will be restored.
