physics) reinforces the understanding of how physics works it relates to the real worlds of manufacturing and technology (American Demographics 794) With about 40 of the class time devoted to lab exercises students can experiment with pulleys pressure gauges water pumps hydrometers and other tools to manipulate and measure the powers of physics The curriculum is designed for students to understand and use physics through mechanical thermal electrical and fluid systems Each of the 14 units concentrates on the systems concepts ss it relates to force work rate resistance power and more Each unit takes several weeks to complete As technology changes the equipment will still be applicable to the principles For instance by making simple Electric Fundamentals Kits students cau ses how economically make lab equipment at the schools and how to use some science lab equipment If schools choose to buy ready-made labs through vendors the equipment is more expensive but less time consuming for the educators According to American Demographics magazine school spends about $28000 to buy lab equipment textbooks and videos for the two-year program" This training provided the helps motivate students to learn and Carrol finds that he is using some of the labs in the Advanced Physics course to improve the motivation and material retention Jim Cole Jay Labare and Todd Bedard at Lamoille Area Vocational Center have also been team teaching introduction to Principles of Technology to their students When more vocational students are educated sooner about applying science skills then they will teach the advanced levels of Principles of Technology as it related to the VoTech field of study The of curriculum was developed by the Agency for Instructional Technology and the Center for Occupational Research and Development with financial support through 45 state educational agencies' Fifty states and Canada participate in the program and colleges accept the course for science lab credits This science and technology educational approach when used by educators and students in classrooms will better prepare students to work with science in the future!
