Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funetal Home. She was born Sept. 7, 1930 in Illinois, a daughter of Frank V. and Alma C.

West Kauffman. She married Richard J. Ferree. He survives. surviving are two daughters, Katherine A.

Simmons of Riverside, Calif, and Marciar M. Ferree of El Cajon, a son, Richard M. Ferree of Lake Ridge, Va. and three grandchildren. Mrs.

Ferree is a member of the Our Lady of 'Grace Roman Catholic Church in Cajon. Shirey service MATTOON The funeral for Mrs. Florence Shirey was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Clark officiating.

Thursday at the Caudill-King Funeral Home. Burial -will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Satterfield was born on Nov. 25, 1930, in Charleston, a son of Elbert and Viola Calhoun Satterfield. He married Evelyn Rutan on July 9, 1952, in Alabama.

She survives. Also surving are two sons, Dale Jr. of Mattoon, Donald of Windsor; a daughter, Mrs. James (Sandy) Drake of Charleston; three brothers, John of Charleston, Leroy "of Columbus, and Eugene of Hopewell, three sisters, Mrs. Dale (Thelma) Myers of Charleston, Mrs.

Rex (Catherine) Franklin of Icrna, and Mrs, William (Martha) Prince of Bourbonnais; and eight grandchildren. One daughter, Jeanie Reedy, preceded him in death. Satterfield was a member of the Montgomery Street First Church of God. He retired from military service after 20 years in 1968, and retired from Hi-Cone in 1983. French, 79, resided at 3104 Marshall The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Schilling's Funeral Home with the Rev. William Pruett officiating. Burial ill be in Zion Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8:30 today at the funeral mvi.

He was born May 11, 1908. in Mattoon, a son of Frank and Minnie May Wooldridge French Sr. He married Irene Leffler July 10, 1927, in Mattoon. She survives. Also surviving are a son, John A.

French of Mattoon; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Donna) Warrem and Mrs. Darrel (Norma) Edwards, both of Mattoon; a sister, Mrs. Joe Hetty) McDuffie; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister.

Mr. French was a Mattoon city policeman for six years before joining the Illinois State Police, which he served for nine years. He was elected to four terms as police magistrate in Mattoon and then was elected Mattoon Township assessor, an office he held for several years. As a magistrate, Mr. French, who was known as "Judge" and "Pappy," was noted for his stern lectures delivered to defendants in a booming voice and the compassion of his sentences.

Mr. French was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion, 40 8 and was 32nd degree Mason in Wabash Ix)dge 179. He was a World War II Army veteran and was president of the Zion Hill Cemetery board for over 45 years. Lucian Gregston -VILLA RIDGE Lucian E. Gregston, 93, of Ridge, formerly of Mattoon, died at 5:40 a.m.

Tuesday (Feb. 23, 1988) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mound City National Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Mounds VFW Post 8891.

Arrangements are being handled by Jones Funeral Home of Villa Ridge. Mr. "Gregston was born April 6, in Princeton, Ky. He is survived by his wife Pauline; a daughter, Lucille G. Foley of a son, Ernest-Gregston of Freeport', five grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

18, 1899, in Guttenburg, Iowa, the son of Walter and Elizabeth Ahrendt Jenkins. He married Enid Shuey of Westfield. She died in 1985. He is survived by three sons, Neil Jenkins of Wright City, Reid Jenkins of Evanston, and Dale Jenkins of Northbrook; four grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Wayne Shuey of Charleston.

Mr. Jenkins was retired from the Evanston Police Force. Memorial donations may be made to thjAlzheimers Support Group. Scott Miller SULLIVAN Scott Richard Miller, formerly of Sullivan, died at 3:23 a.m. Monday (Feb.

22, 1988) at Norfork General Hospital, Norfork, Va. as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. The funeral for Miller 27, of Decatur, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan, with the Rev. Jeff Grote officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 .1, p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted at the burial site in Greenhill Cemetery. He was born Feb. 7, 1961 in Decatur, a son of Richard O.

Miller and Mary Craven Miller. He married Georgia Lynn Patterson June 16, 1986 in Sullivan. She survives. Other survivors include his wife of Norfork, his parents of Decatur, maternal grandmotherr Lucille Craven of Oakland; a brother, Ma.rk Spanhook of Lov- "Tngton, and Sandra-Fair of Decatur, Mrs. Roy (Nancy) Lemming of Mount Zion, Mrs.

Larry (Donna) Sanders- of Paris and Mrs. Jim (Sandi) Sparks of Lovington. Mr. Miller was a 1980 graduate ot Miinvan HiHh School and was and was a HT3 serving with the U.S. Navy a Norfolk, Va.
