Miss Arlene Carmack, 72: Cooper St., Greeenville, a re cent graduate of Greeehville Col leege with a B.S. degree Wil teach the fifth grade at Fores Homes Grade School. Miss Elsie Eergdott, Trenton who received her A.B. degree from McKehdree in 1957 wil teach second grade at Foresi Homes. Miss Bergdott has 28 years of teaching experience. John. Zirges, Worden, who just received his B.S. from S1U will teach common learnings and ninth grade at Wilbur Trimpe Junior High School. Jerry McCann, 118 E. Second St., Hartford, who also receiver his B.S. degree from SIU will teach eighth grade and common learnings at the junior high school. Miss Darlene Luebke, Harris town, who has a B.S. from Illinois State Normal University and a M.S. from SIU will teach business education at Civio Memorial High School. Mrs. Charles Glaeser, 731 Elfgen St., Alton, will teach physical education at the high school. She received her B.S. from SIU in'1962. Mrs. Herbert Pontow, 2120 Country Club Dr., Alton, will instruct homemaking at the high school. She received her B.S. degree last spring from SIU. Ben McDavid, East St. Louis, will instruct music at the junior high. He has a B.S. from Washington University in St. Louis. Miss Reita Sparrowk, Bethalto, will teach fifth grade at Meadowbrook Grade School. She graduated from SIU this last spring. |fersey Will Open Schools Aug. 29 , JERSEYVILLE - Schools of Community Unit School District No, 100, Jersey and Greene Counties, are scheduled to open Au,, 29?at 8:30 a.m. School will be in session for two hours only on that day to facilitate obtaining text- boohs, establishing enrollments, and providing for other opening n§eds. School will operate a full day session on Aug. 30th. On Wednesday, Aug. 28, a luncheon will be held for new staff members together with the board of education and administrative staff. Follovying the luncheon new teachers wlil meet with their building principal. School buses will make regular runs on opening day. The routes are, with few modifications, the same as last year. School lunches will be served on Friday, It is anticipated that enrollments will be up slightly this year from the preceding year. All first, fifth and ninth grade pupils and those new to the district in other grades are required to provide the school with a physical examination report. Blanks for health examinations are available at. doctors' offices and the school office. All first grade pupils must present birth certificates. St. Patrick's Classes Start On Sept. 3 St. Patrick's School in Alton will open for classes on Tuesday, Sept. 3, with a half-day session being held. Mother Paul, O.S.U., the principal, said an enrollment of 400 or more is expected. Registration and distribution of books will take place on the following days: Aug. 26, grades 7 and 8; Aug. 29, grades 1, 2 and 3; and Aug. 30, grades 4, 5 and 6. Members of the staff are as follows: the Rev. John Crosson, the Rev. KEVIN'S SCHOOL Workmen arc putting the finishing touches to the new Kevin's School in Rosewood Heights. The new two-story Catholic school is scheduled to open Sept. 3 with an enrollment of 120, St. Kevin's New Parochial School To Open Sept. 3 With 120 Pupils ROSEWOOD HEIGHTS - St. <evin's new parochial school will open Sept. 3 with an enrollment of 120 in grades one through bur. Enrollment in the grades will be: first, 28; second, 31; third, 3; and fourth, 28. The Rev. Father Frank J. O'Hara, pastor, said that the parish )lans (o add a grade to the school each year until the school has eight grades. School will open with four com- jleted classrooms, but only three vill be used. The men of t h e jarish will continue work on the second floor which will eventual- y contain four classrooms. The building will have office ;pace and a cafeteria, but Father O'Hara said the cafeteria will probably not be open when school starts. Dominican Sisters will make up the school's faculty. Sister Anna Patrick, superior, will be assisted by Sister Francene and Sister Paulita. At East Alton New Eastwood School Addition Part of Plan 6AST ALTON - the new addition hearing completion at Eastwood School Is part of an extensive construction and remodeling program presently underway In School District 13. The most important project tti the porposed building program will be the construction of a new Washington School Scheduled to begin this fall. The new Washington School will be a split-level iO-classroom building financed by a $500,000 bond issue passed in November of 1962. The proposed building will have a multi-purpose room and office space. School officials said the present Washington school building and eight classroom building, will be razed on completion of the new building. Thirteen other listricts or fractional parts hereof have petitioned or annexed themselves to the original area which now is 169.5 square miles. The district has all or some portion of townships listed (ap- >roximate percentages): Ed- vardsville, 100.0; Ft.
