Ashten Winter 144-373. BMW Continued from B1 Johnson wasn't the only player who felt like a winner. Luke Donald, a member at Conway Farms, was No. 54 in the FedEx Cup and was on the verge of being left out of the top 30 players who advanced to the Tour Championship. He ran off four straight birdies on the back nine, atoned for a bogey on No.

16 with a birdie on the 17th, and then saved par from a bunker on the 18th hole for a 66 to tie for fourth. That moved him up to No. 29 to get him into East Lake Watney was at No. 34, and he went from playing his way into the top 30 to nearly winning the tournament. Watney closed with a 64 and was tied for the lead until Johnson made an 18-foot birdie putt out of the first cut on the 16th hole, and a 12-footer for birdie on the next hole.

"The guys ahead of me were ahead of me for a reason they've been playing well all Watney said. "Luckily for me, I kind of pulled everything together." The FedEx Cup points will be reset, meaning the top five only have to win the Tour Championship to capture the cup. Tiger Woods will be the No. 1 seed, though he doesn't go there with much momentum. Woods started the final round in cool, breezy conditions just four shots behind and was never a factor after missing a short par putt on the opening hole.

He closed with a 71 and tied for 11th, seven shots behind. Henrik Stenson, a winner in Boston and angry enough in Chicago that he snapped off the head of his driver during the final round, will be the No. 2 seed at East Lake, followed by Masters champion Adam Scott, Johnson and Matt Kuchar. Steve Strieker, who played in the final group with Johnson, was one shot off the lead when he started the back nine bogey-double bogey. He closed with a 72, a round that cost him one of the top five seeds.

AUTO RACING Montoya will drive for Team Penske CHARLOTTE, N.C. Juan Pablo Montoya ended his underwhelming NASCAR stint for a return to IndyCar, where he'll drive for Chip Ganassi rival Roger Penske. Montoya has agreed to join Team Penske next season as a teammate to current IndyCar points leader Helio Castron-eves and Will Power. He could also drive in some NASCAR races as part of the deal. Montoya had said he spoke with Michael Andretti about an IndyCar ride.

Montoya also had an offer in NASCAR to replace Kurt Busch at Furniture Row Racing. Montoya won the 1999 CART title, the 2000 Indianapolis 500 and 11 races driving open-wheel for Ganassi. He then moved to Formula One, where he had seven wins and 30 podiums, before reuniting with Ganassi again in 2006 to compete in NASCAR. COLLEGE FOOTBALL OSU names official for football review STILLWATER, Okla. -Oklahoma State has appointed a former NCAA official to investigate alleged misconduct in the Cowboys football program.

School president Burns Hargis and the Board of Regents announced Monday that Charles E. Smrt will lead an independent review of alleged violations reported by Sports Illustrated. Hargis said Smrt is currently president of a consulting firm specializing in compliance audits. Before that he was on the NCAA enforcement staff for almost 18 years. The alleged violations reported by the magazine occurred between 2001 and 2010.

Among the potential NCAA violations mentioned in the report are cash payments to players from boosters and assistant coaches and sham jobs for which players were paid. COLLEGE BASKETBALL Kellogg, Anthony switch roles for CBS NEW YORK Clark Kellogg and Greg Anthony are switching roles for CBS's college basketball coverage. Anthony will serve as the lead game analyst alongside Jim Nantz, while Kellogg is returning to the studio show. Kellogg worked on the studio show for 16 years before replacing Billy Packer as CBS's lead game analyst. He will still call games during the regular season.

Anthony has been CBS's lead studio analyst since 2008. The 11-year NBA veteran and former UNLV star has also called games for the network. CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus said Monday that "we believe this shuffling of our lineup allows both Greg and Clark to play more to their individual strengths." RUNNING Kenyan sets record in Shoreline Classic DECATUR Julius Koskei of Kenya set a record in the men's 15K in winning the Shoreline Classic along Lake Decatur. Koskei won in 43:41.
