NBA Timberwolves arena will get $97M facelift MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Timberwolves and the City of Minneapolis have announced a $97 million renovation plan for Target Center. The long-negotiated plan finally was announced on Tuesday and is scheduled to be voted on for approval by the City Council on Nov. 12.

The Timberwolves will pay $43 million toward the project, Minneapolis will contribute $48.5 million and building manager AEG will pay $5.5 million. The deal also extends the Timberwolves' lease at the arena through 2032. exhibition against Tiger Woods. Mcllroy made four birdies and an eagle over the last seven holes at Mission Hills for a 6-under 67, giving him a one-shot win over Woods. It was the second straight year Mcllroy has defeated Woods at the medal match in China.

"I would like to play all my tournaments in China where I can beat Tiger," Mcllroy said. Even an unofficial win has to count for something. Mcllroy beat him last year at Jinsha Lake under far different circumstances. Mcllroy was a major champion, No. 1 in the world and on his way to sweeping all the important awards.

He signed a lucrative deal with Nike a short time later, and this season has been a struggle. He is using a new driver and a softer golf ball, even prompting Woods to say to him after one chip, "How did you do that?" COLLEGE BASKETBALL Purdue suspends center for 3 games WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Hammons for three games Mon GOLF Moore wins playoff in CIMB Classic KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia The rain and the delays were all worth it for Ryan Moore, who seems to play his best golf this time of year. Moore won the CIMB Classic in a playoff with Gary Woodland on Monday, birdieing the first hole for his third PGA Tour victory.

Moore scrambled just to make the playoff, hitting an awkward 60-yard wedge shot on the 18th hole Sunday that dropped within several feet of the hole and allowed him to salvage par. In the playoff, Moore hit a strong approach with an 8-iron to the same green. The ball stopped about 5 feet from the cup, setting up his winning putt. It had been about a year since he won his second title, at the 2012 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas. Defending champion Carthage was chosen to finish first after going 24-5, 13-1 CCIW this past season. Wheaton (22-6, 11-3) was second and Illinois Wesleyan (18-8, 11-3) was third in the voting. Last year Millikin had just its second losing season in the last 22 years, going 8-16, 3-11 CCIW seventh place in the conference. But the Big Blue began to show life late in the season, winning three of its last six and playing conference powerhouse Illinois Wesleyan to a two-point game in the season's second-to-last gama Millikin returns five of its six leading scorers from last year in Brittany Czaplicki, Bria Williams, Jasmine Johnson, Holly Haskins and Alyssa Saklak.

Czaplicki, a senior, was the top scorer at 10.5 point per game last year, and she'll be the team's leader this year. "She's a fiery competitor and the kind of seasoned veteran every coach appreciates," Millikin coach Lori Ker-ans said during Monday's CCIW coaches' chat. "She played point guard most of the season last year, but her versatility allows us to move her to the wing as well." TUPPER just a player but a student-athlete. "And they all fill out a sheet at the beginning of the season that states if there's an issue on Facebook or Twitter, the head football coach can take that away from them. We have not had any of those issues." Beckman would probably like to get through a season without being aware of links to fan pages that list the names of coaches who should replace him once he's fired.

And those fans wanted him fired a year-and-a-half ago. There are only a few sure ways to slow the sniping. Play better. Win consistently. Generate recruiting excitement.

You don't have to check Twitter to know Illinois football has consistently struggled to make that 421-7983 working hard. "I had my son in town with my two granddaughters, and I would like to have gone out and had breakfast with them but, sorry, I had to get into the office and spend more time so we can get this done right. Everyone is working to get it right and when we get there, everyone is going to be happy." But not now. Beckman allows his players to be on Facebook and Twitter (not every head coach does), but assistant coaches and program monitors are "friends" and they keep close tabs on what the players are saying. "We ask our players to be professional," Beckman said.

"Right now you can honestly say this program has been very professional with what they've done academically and socially. They understand the importance of being a Fighting Illini, not Cubit said he pays little or no attention to the traditional media, or to social media, but occasionally an irate fan will find him via his university e-mail account. "I had one guy this week," Cubit said. "He was frustrated, but I thought, 'Hey, he must care enough to write an If we didn't have passion we wouldn't have anyone in the stands." Cubit said he used to answer e-mails and occasionally would telephone a fan during his tenure as head coach at Western Michigan. "Oh, yeah, I've surprised some of them," he said.

"I called one person who stuttered for about the first five minutes. But I understand, I really do. "And I feel for our kids. They have just one shot at this thing. I want to do well for them.

Aj I can do is keep Continued from B1 senior linebacker Jonathan Brown said of the negativity being directed at Illini football. "And people have a right to get frustrated. I'm frustrated myself." As the play caller, offensive coordinator Bill Cubit knows he can be called a genius when a clever play works. But he also knows he's going to be harpooned when a play falls apart, as happened Saturday when a double-reverse against the Spartans ended in the worst possible way. The team lined up wrong, fumbled the ball, lost possession and lost the services of its best wide receiver, Ryan Lankford, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury..
