Drain off the water. Put In the onions. Lightly fry the sliced frankfurters In a; little fat or butter In the skillet, turning them often until they are nfcely browned. Add them to the kettle. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and maybe a few drops of Wod- cestershlre If you have It with y6u. Put In the 2 cans of soup, plus 2 soupcans of water. Heat to boil- Ing, then stir and see If it tastes 0;K. This feeds 6 right well. You can add some diced potatoes to the celery and carrots if you like, ai^d throw in anything else that might appeal to you. And if it rains, you can 'do all tins indoors! Take along some of these good cupcakes when you camp out. They are a favorite of Mrs. Tliad- deus Luczyh, Chicago Daily News Chaptpr. Sour Croum Cupcakes 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup soured cream IVa cups sifted flour 1 cup sugar I'/a teaspoon baking powder % teaspoon soda % teaspoon salt Beat eggs and soured cream together. Sift remaining items together several times, and combine with the soured cream mixture. Beat batter until smooth. Fill greased cupcake^ pans % full and bake at 375 degrees until done, about 25 minutes. They may be frosted with a simple icing. We do these in proper paper cups, especially when taking them on a trip. Mocha - butterscotch sauce is from Carl Lentz, Newark (N.J.) News. This makes 1% cups and may be served hot or cold over ice cream. Mocha-Butterscotch 2 tablespoons instant coffee powder % cup brown sugar 1 cup light .corn, syrup % cup butter _ % teaspoon salt ,. | % cup svaporated milk % teaspoon vanilla Combine first 5 items with cup of water and cook over low beat to soft ball stage (236 degrees). Remove from heat, cool slightly, and stir in "milk and vanilla. Serve as above. This invitation strikes a fa miliar note these days and it is usually worth while to accept it While almost always women as well as men confess to a liking for pie, America's favorite des sert, something a little more deli cate is likely to be served for luncheon in these days of slen derizing. Turnovers with some kind o fruit filling are sometimes chosen and may be so tempting in appearance that more than one wil be eaten. For these the pastry i' rolled thin, cut in strips or tri angles, filled with sweetened frui and topped with chopped nuts While these are probably bette just out of the oven, they an good when they are cold as wel as when they are hot. If we indulge in several we can salve our conscience by compar ing the calorie count with a' }arg piece of pie. Dessert Turnovers Roll pastry % inch thick. Cu in strips.
