Refuse and garbage will not be picked up if it is not put in a proper container, he said. Commenting on the use of oil drums six with lids and other similar containers, he said they won't do. The straight sides on such containers will not allow pa- lers to slide out like the regular 'laired garbage cans and it holds up city workers, Ebbert said. Small tree limbs should be tied n bunches and put alongside the garbage cans, he said. Fined $16 WOOD RIVER — Jewell A. Brown, 32, 19 E. Jennings Ave., arrested Wednesday on a charge of intoxication, was fined $15 and costs this morning after pleading ;uilty to the charge before Police Magistrate O. W. Vernor. Wood River Rate Incorrectly Stated WOOD RIVER - Due to a typographical error in Tuesday's Telegraph regarding a water rate hike, effective sometime this fall, it was indicated that residential in-city water users would pay $6.50 for the first 6,000 gallons used. This should have read $4.50 for the first 6,000 gallons and 65 cents per 1,000 gallons for the next 14,000 gallons. The new rate hike may become effective Oct. 1, but could be postponed until later in the year depending on the amount of income received from the general obligation portion of the city's 1,350,000 water improvement bond issue.
