Stolen Wood River Auto Recovered EAST ALTON — A Wood River man reported his car stolen in East Alton Friday midnight and later discovered the car parked at the Ole South Tavern in Wo o d River. Jack Quigley, 626 Ferguson Ave., Wood River, told East Al, ton police at 12:58 this morning that he located his car at t h e tavern on Edwardsville road in Wood River, and nothing seemed to be missing from the vehicle. Quigley said he left bis car parked on West Main in East Alton at 6 p.m. because he had trouble with the motor. When he and a friend returned to where the car had been parked, the vehicle was gone. From Chicago Clinic Laird Returns WOOD RIVER — City Manager Carlton Laird returned Friday after attending the five-day clinic on "Development of Salary and Wage Plans Within a Personnel Department" at the University of Chicago. Tool Theft WOOD RIVER — Charles Freiman, 743 George St., reported to police this morning the theft of approximately $30 worth of tools from the trunk of his car. Reports Theft WOOD RIVER—Charles Freiman, 743 George St., reported the theft of approximately $30 worth of tools from the trunk of his car to police Friday. He said the theft occurred sometime between 6:15 p.m. Thursday night and 6;55 a.m. Friday, Included in the tool chest was a set of socket wrenches, Hose Cut WOOD'RIVER-Arthur Beanblossom, : 510 Second St., told police Friday that vandals had cut approximately eight feet of hose from 8 new section of garden hose he had recently pur- phased, Roxuna Student to Attend Conference WOOD RIVER - The publicity committee of Wood River Township Chamber of Commerce Friday agreed to recommend changing the name to the Association of Commerce and Industry of Wood River Township at the next general board meeting. The publicity group, headed by Ed Underwood, with exception of one dissenter, felt the present name frequently conveys a cono- tation of the city of Wood River rather than the entire township. They said that too many times in news media and general conversation the word "township" is dropped from the title and it then implies the organization deals only Wood River city matters. The new name will be recom- nended at a meeting of the entire 24-man board of directors Wednesday. Reports on proposed billboards announcing that "you are now entering Wood River Township" »vere discussed and it was again agreed that a letter be sent to ownship service clubs asking if they want to participate in such a project. — 3 PEARL JOHNSTON — We wish to thank the friends, neighbors, for their kindnesses during our recent bereavement.
