Nation's Top 3-Year-Olds Clash Saturday CHICAGO (AP) — Most of the nation's best 3-year-olds, excluding Kentucky Derby and Belmont winner Chateaugay, will race in the $100,000 added Arlington Classic Saturday at Arlington Park. Favored among a dozen expected to start in the mile race is Rex C. Ellsworth's Candy Spots, winner of five stakes this season, Including the preakness and the recent American Derby at Arlington. Candy Spots renews his feud with Elmendorf Farm's B. Major, who upset the Ellsworth colt in the $100,000 Chicagoan at Washington Park June 15 and finished a good second to Candy Spots in the American Derby. The east will be represented by Jaclyn Stable's Ahoy, a three stake winner this season. Four recent arrivals from Hollywood Park are expected to try the classic. They are J.K. Houssels' Y Flash, winner of the Hollywood Derby; Chase R. Me Coy's Three Links; Mrs. Connie Ring's Olympiad King; and William Randkovich's Quest Link. Other probable Classic starters are: John M. The six-furlong Sapling, which closes the Monmouth meeting, will have a small field of probably hall a dozen because of the two hot favorites.
