Louis 611 ter pleading guilty to a trespassing charge. Tony D. Price, 22, 1804 Champaign admitted entering a woman's Mattoon residence without permission on Aug. 20. A more serious charge of unlawful restraint, accusing him of detaining the woman and preventing her from calling police, was dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea.

Price was ordered to pay fines and court costs totaling $1,161 and to undergo mental health treatment as his probation officer deems necessary. A Shelby County man was scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 8 after pleading guilty Monday to a charge of deceptive practice. intentionally writing a bad checkfor nearly $170 to Mister Music Ltd. in the Cross County Mall in Mattoon on April9.

Court records indicate he has prior convictions of the same offense in both Shelby and Christian coun-ties. Conaway faces a possible prisonsentenceofonetothreeyears. Timothy L. Kirkman, 23, 1400 Champaign on Monday entered a negotiated plea of guilty to a charge of retail theft.

He was sentenced to a year in prison, but received credit for 32 days spent in the Coles County jail since his arrest Kirkman was arrested Oct 6 at the Mattoon Wal-Mart store after he was discovered taking three boxes of the medicine. misdemeanor, was instead filed as a felony because Kirkman was convicted of another retail theft charge earlier this year. He was born April 18, 1937, in Coles County, the son of Thomas and Leone (Riney) Pendergast. He married Barbara Prahl June 23, 1962, in vices 2 p.m., Saturday in the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church where friends may register after 12:30.

Burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, from 6 until 8 p.m., in Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. He is survived by two daughters Jane and her husband Don Perry ofMattoon, Illinois, and their son Douglas of Fort Worth, Texas, Janet and her husband Don McCannon, Burlington, their two sons; Michael and his wife Martha, Steven and a daughter Kerry McCannon all of Denver and a sister Ruth Stechcon of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence, a brother Lawrence "Mike," a daughter Sally and a granddaughter Julie Lynn. He was born Sept.

18, 1905, in Mount Vernon, Iowa, to Edwin Stanton and Grace Thompson Johnston and graduated in 1928 from Cornell College in chemistry and business. He married Florence Turner, June 29, 1930 in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She died June 16, 1995. Judy retired as an independent Shell Oil jobber in 1967. He was a member of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, charter member of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Lions Club, a member of the Cornell Presidents Club, a member of the Iowa Small Bore Rifle Team in 1947, and a member of the Iowa Independent Oil Jobbers.

He was an avid sportsman and wintered for the last 30 years in San Carlos, Mexico. Faler, 46, of Areola passed away at 3:35 p.m.

8, 1949, in San Jose, a son of John Keith and Adele Buron Faler. He married Karen Conlin in Areola on Aug. 1, 1970. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Amiee Faler and Luci Faler, both at home; one sister, Dolores "Johnnie" Caldwell of San Jose, and cousin, Sonja Shurr of Cupertino, Calif.

Mark was preceded in death by bis parents and grandparents. He was an Air Force veteran earning the rank of staff sergeant. He was an active member of the Areola Volunteer Fire Department starting June 28, 1974, serving as assistant chief from Jan. 25, 1982, until becoming fire chief on March 25, 1985, a position held until 1994. He was a past president of the Areola Chamber of Commerce and a member of the St.

ohn's the Baptist Catholic Church in Areola. Memorials may be made to Trees for Moore Park or the Marty Thomas Scholarship Fund. Charleston; she survives. Other survivors include a son, James Michael Pendergast Jr. and his daughters Jaimee Michelle and Payton Nicole Pendergast ofMattoon; four brothers, William Pendergast of Charleston, Charles Pendergast of Rockford, Maurice Pendergast ofMattoon and Patrick Pendergast of Charleston; and three sisters, Mrs.

Brady (Mary) Hendrix of Rockford, Mrs. Roy (Margaret) Helmerson of New Port Richey, and Mrs. Douglas (Nancy) Ross of Birmingham, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Mr.

Pendergast was a purchasing agent for Columbia Machine for twenty-one and a half years and owner and operator of Pat's Lounge in Mattoon. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Modified Midget Association, and a former member of the Eagles and the Moose both ofMattoon.
