Bull told Business Agent Lena Lema that the CiVil Service Commission will hold a hearing March 31. If the union is not satisfied with the commission recommendation. it may appeal to the board later, Bull said.

Other developments: 1. The Ctwnty Taxpayers Asso-il eiation voted to wait until April 5 to consider a recommendation to the supervisors on wages for county workers. 2. The supervisors have under submission a request, of County Superintendent of Schools Willard Hancock that they support state legislation to raise his pay and at the same time' receive a larger subvention from the state to fi-1 nance the increase. 3.

Action on a bill raising pay for marshal and Municipal Court attaches is being held up by the supervisors pending a recommendation from Personnel Director Charlps Shean. 4. In the past two weeks the hoard has recommended passage of state legislation calling for substantial raises for the supervisors, judges, district attorney and auditor. The balance of county salaries will he considered April 11, following a report from the Civil Service Commission. Summer School Sessions Planned Make-Up Courses May Be Conducted An eight-week summer session for Stockton high school and junior college students will be offered this year if there is sufficient student interest, according to School Superintendent Nolan D. Pulliam. Local students will be asked next week to answer a questionnaire concerning their willingness to attend such a program.

A program tentatively has been set to begin June 13 and to end August 5. Courses will he offered for make-up work or to improve reading, writing and arithmetic skills and in subjects which students might not have opportunity to study in the regular school year. COI.LKC.K CLASSES Classes probably will be held at Stockton College. School bus transportation will be provided from the high schools. High school summer sessions have been offered in the past but were dropped because of the Irregular attendance habits of students.

No credit will be given for the proposed eourse unless the student attends the entire period. Definite plans have been completed for the elementary summer schools to be held at Garfield, Grunsky. Madison and Roosevelt schools June 17 through July 22. The school district received an overwhelming vote in favor of the summer school program conducted last year in the elementary grades, according to results of a recent questionnaire. Only four parents out of 790 thought their children had not benefited from the program.

Only 17 said their children did not enjoy the classes, and only 23 were unwilling to send their children again.
