Burt Wins, 19-0; Swea Downs Titonka, 30-20; Sentral Loses CONFERENCE STANDINGS W L Lincoln-Central 5 1 Thompson 5 1 Swea City 4 2 Armstrong 4 2 Sentral 3 3 Titonka 1 4 Burt 1 5 Woden-Crystal Lake 0 5 * * * Lincoln-Central and Thompson emerged from the smoke of last Friday's State Line Conference football wars as co-leaders of their conference. Thompson turned back a Sentral team that had earlier sniffed a possible victory, by a stunning 40-0 score. Lincoln-Central gave Armstrong the message by a 45 to 0 tally. The honors for the evening among the four conference members from Kossuth county goes to the Burt Bears. They won their first conference game, defeating Woden - Crystal Lake 19 to 0. It was a sweet victory for the squad which numbers a scant 15 or 16 players. It was Burt's first win in 16 starts. In the other conference game, Swea City made it a four and two season with a 30 to 20 victory over Titonka at Swea City. Howard Batt took a 20-yard pass from Wayne Lavrenz in the first quarter at Burt to put the Bears on the winning track. Lavrenz followed through in the second quarter with a two-yard plung for the second TD, and the final TD came in the third quarter on a run by Batt, with Lavrenz adding the extra point. ^•••^••••^•••••••••{•••^•••••V Legal Notice IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF IOWA, IN AND FOR KOSSUTH COUNT Y, REX KOOYMAN, Plaintiff, vs. C. Doug Pingle and Randy Newlin brought home the other Trojan scores. Russ Sleper led the Titonka attack with a 42-yard pass play and another TD as well, and Alan Peterson turned in a 52- yard TD run. Darrell Giesking did the Titonka tossing, which was a constant threat Thompson ran up a total of 378 yards gained in downing Sentral, and seems destined for a first place tie, at least. Thompson's final game is against Woden-Crystal Lake. Tom Smith, throwing for Thompson, found receivers in Bruce Underbakke who caught two, Carroll Fisher and Mark Tinderholt. Mark Anderson turned in a 76-yard scoring run, also. Sentral's Sattelites just never did get rolling. They trailed 140 at the half, but two more Thompson TD's in the third Quarter sealed their doom. 102 Yds. TD - Twin Rivers Takes 7th Win And Title Twin Rivers Pirates threw a 54-6 clincher at Rolfe and won the Twin Lakes Conference football championship at Bode Wednesday night. The Pirates had a game on their hands until the late minutes of the fir.st half when Roger Clark picked off a Rolfe pass two yards deep in the end zone and ran it back 102 yards to score. That broke Rolfe's back and the second half was all Twin Rivers. Twin Rivers, which starts an all-junior backfield and an all- senior line, got four touchdown passes out of the handy right arm of quarterback Steve Bergum who threw scoring aerials of 26, 43, 32 and 50 yards. Doug Logue, a handy all-around back and defensive star, scored on runs of 6 and 69 yards and took one of Bergum's scoring passes. Big fullback Dale Rossing plunged for the other Twin Rivers score. The winners scored first after Rich Zeimet recovered a Rolfe fumble at the Rams' 40. Bergum passed to Logue for 26 yards and a 7-0 lead. But the fired-up Rams came back to score a few minutes later on a 6-yard pass from quarterback Dean Pedersen to end Jack Feldman but missed the point and trailed 7-6. Logue capped a Twin Rivers drive on a six-yard run early in the second period. Then Rolfe took a Twin Rivers fumble at the Pirate 16 and was driving for a score when Clark came up with his interception and neat run up the sidelines to break the game open. Coach Bob Algoe's Pirates dominated the second half. Logue went 69 up the sidelines to score, Rossing bulled over from the one and Bergum wrapped it up with scoring passes of 43 yards to Jack Harris, 32 yards to Jim Collins and 50 yards to Kirk THE SPREADER TRUCKS ARE ROLLING!
