14. The breach between Bradley ami Ilunler is being widened by the charges made by Mayor Todd, of Louisville, that Gov. Bradley promised to give SlO.OOO'to the campaign fund in lb'JS, but only'gave 52,400. The goernor is indignant over the charge, and it is understood that a lively correspondence is now going on between the two men over the charge. The governor refuses to talk now, but may give out an interview when the crisis is reached.

Meantime, it is faid. the governor will call an extra cession at such time as it will be most disastrous to Hunter, who is Todd's chief political ally. Charged With Attempted Kobbrry. Baroouksville, Dec It A commonwealth witness in the murder case named Stout, and living in Perry count', late Saturday night, it is charged, made an attempt to rob I D. Jarvis of a roll of money he had displayed during the day.

Stout was arrested and placed under a bond of which was given by the Erersoles. Fatally Shot hr a 3lh. Jackson, Dec. 1-1. Thomas was fatally shot by a mob of 15 men at his home.

A RUMOR Tht the O. Itillnrar Negotiating for the I'nrchaae ot the Kastern Kentucky Road. Grkkkup, Dec. a Thcro is a report current here that the Chesapeake and Ohio railway is negotiating for the purchase of the Eastern Kentucky railroad. The Eastern Kentucky runs from this place south to Webbville, in Lawrence county, a distance of 37 miles.

The Lexington division of the Chesapeake and Ohio crosses the line four miles south of Orayson. The Lexington branch of the Chesapeake and Ohio rnns over the Ashland Coal and Iron railway from Denton, a few miles cast of the junction with the Eastern Kentucky, to Ashland. The traffic arrangement with the Iron railway expires the coming year, and it is said the object of the Chesapeake and Oh'o is to buy the Eastern nnd run the Lexington division trains through via Kivcrton instead of renewing the lease with the Iron road. Fbankfoht, Dec 9. Tho court of appeals Tuesday, in an opinion by Judge White, rendered a decision, holding the Kentucky state whisky tax law unconstitutional. The bonded period, under the federal law, is eight years, and the state tax law provides that whisky shall be exempt from taxation till it is taken out of bond. The county of Franklin filed suit against E. II.

Taylor, and other distillers, asking for a construction of the law and contending that the law was a discrimination, and in conflict with the state constitution. Worthington and asked him to offer a reward for the turnpike raiders in this county. Gov. Worthington said that he was inclined to act, but that Gov. Jlradley had already pawsed on the question. Wbilo Gov.

Harry Sheley, a six-year-old colored lioy, Is dead, and with tho story of his death is connected a tale of noble heroism, for he gave up his life to save his four-year-old brother, Charley, from a like fate. The children's parents were absent Monday, aud left some bread on the shelf above the open fireplace for the little ones' dinner. Charlie, the younger, climbed into a chair and reached for the bieail, and in this way his clothes caught lire from the open grate. Harry came to his brother's aid and put out the lir, but in so doing his own clothes caught lire and he was burned so severely as to cause his death a few hours later. GOV.

BRADLEY Defends Ills Stand Against Calling an Extra Session of the Legislature. Dec who is in Cincinnati, has issued a statement defending his stand against calling an immediate extra bcssion of the legislature for the purpose of electing a United States senator and providing relief for the state treasury. The governor says the extra session is only demanded by clulm brokers, senatorial candidates and screech owls, and he is not uolng to call it until he gets good and ready. Tho governor says his throat is improving and that he will soou resume the duties of his office. Two CIitVr Triumph.

Fkaxkfokt, Dec lo County Clerk It Wilson wins a big victory in a decision by Judge Cautrill, of the state fiscal court. The case iuvolved the question us to whether the statute which provides that no state or county official shall receive more than salary exclusive of clerk hire, is applicable to Wilson. Judge Cantrill decides that tho statute is not applicable. The same decision holds in regard to the circuit clerk of Fayette county. 8nlt Involving iml Mineral Lund.

Doc 10. Special Circuit Judge G. W. Smith Wednesday afternoon decided a suit involving acres of timber and mineral lands in Bell county The case was that of Edward Grimes and wife, of New York, vs. the American association, limited, an English corporation, and iuvolved the titles to the property.

The court decided that the plaintiffs were entitled to all but a few patents, 'lhe property is valued at about 51,000,000. Cnpid on a Train. Lkxi.voto.v, Dec. 10. J.

T. deputy sheriff of Grant county, and Miss Mary Robinson, of Williams-town, Wednesday morning eloped, and, fearing that the parents of tho bride would havo them intercepted at Lexington, they had the ceremony performed on the train. Rev. Dr. Davis, also of Willianifitown, was on the train, and married them, with the train crew as witnesses.

The tax list of this city will be materially increased and considerable arrears of taxes will be brought into the treasury by a decision of the court of appeals that the law exempting whisky in federal bond from taxation during the bonded period is unconstitutional. 10. llecent developments go to prove that the supposed murder by George Deacon of his aged wife and the suicide of himself by drowning in a large tank used for watering stock, which occurred near Plymouth on Sunday last, was perpetrated by unknown parties. Detectives are now at work on tho case and it is said they have a good clew.
