Gene is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Maahs of here and is married to a daughter of Mr and Mrs. Louis Greinert, also of liefer He graduated from Iowa state University in an agricultural journalism course and was employed by the Decorah newspapers prior to becoming employed by the Farm Bureau in 1958. 55th ANNIVERSARY Mr, and Mrs. August Bernau celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Sunday with a dinner and social afternoon in St. Paul!s Lutheran church parlors with .approximately 50 in at' tendance. Mr. and Mrs. Bernau were jnarried in Waterloo, 111. after which they lived southeast of WJhittemore. Hosts and hostesses"*were their four sons and three daughters. BEGIN KINDERGARTEN St. Paul's Lutheran school began their 'kindergarten class Monday for nine weeks. Ten pupils registered for the full day class. Mrs. Marcus (Agnes) Zumach is the teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kleigl and Carol were Sunday dinner guests at the Bill Bernhard home at Bancroft in honor of Nicky's birthday. Mrs. Merelyn Wegener and children of Spencer and Mrs. Vic Dau went to Fort Dodge Saturday to get Kim Kirschner of Des Moines who is visiting at the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vic Dau. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Emery of Ames were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Maahs. Mrs. Emery and Mrs. Donald Maahs of Leavenworth, Kansas, plan to leave next month for France to visit Mrs. Donald Maahs 1 mother and grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Funk of Cylinder, Ron Rochleau of Algona, Mr. and Mrs. Max Wilcox family of Emmetsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ostwald and Marilyn and Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Ostwald helped Mr. and Mrs. Theo. The Veteran's mothers cancelled their March meeting due to inclement weather and will be held on April 8.
