Be kind to thy father, for when thou wast young Who loved thee so fondly as he? He caught the first accent that fell from thy tongue, And joined in thy innocent glee; Be kind to thy brother where'ver you oldwill so locks footsteps are intermingled feeble, once with gray.

fearless and bold. Thy father is passing away. Be kind to thy mother, for lo, on her brow, Many traces sorrow be seen; Oh! Well mayst thou cherish and comfort her now. For loving and kind she hath been; Remember thy mother, for thee will she pray, As long as God giveth her breath, With accents of kindness then cheer her lone way-E'en to the dark valley of death. Be kind to thy brother where 'ver you are, The love of.

a brother shall be An ornament purer and richer by far Than pearls from the depths of the sea; Be kind to the brother, his heart will have dearth If smiles of thy joy be withdrawn; The flowers of feeling will fade at their birth If love and affection be gone. Be kind to thy sister, not many know The depths of true sisterly love; The wealth of the ocean lies fathoms below. The surface that sparkles: above; Thy kindness shall bring to thee many sweet hours With blessings thy pathway to crown, Affection shall weave thee a garland of flowersMore precious than wealth or MRS. interests me very much. My dear, old, aged mother suffered this affliction every summer for four years straight. The last time it held her down on her back day and night during the summer months of July, August and September. My elder, kind hearted sister was her nurse, and I remember how she painted mother's face every morning. after a gentle water wash, with preparation prescribed for by our famfly physician.

Mother had great faith in our family physician, but finally we persuaded her to get in a carriage and drive over to a specialist. I don't know just what he prescribed for her, but I know she was well again in two weeks or so, and the disease never returned again, and she lived nearly nine years hence. It grieves me to think of her lying there helpless, with all her grown up children surrounding her and not able to help her in any way. I think sister still has the remedy or prescription poor mother used last. Her address at NEWS office.

C. W. East Orange, Sept. 12. Cure for Alcoholism.

Editor Evening News: Having taken notice in Everybody's Column an article about a man wishing to quit drinking, I send this: I was one of the unfortunates given to strong drink. It had reduced me to degradation. I tried and strove hard and long, but I seldom held victory over drink long. I hated drunkenness but still I drank. I left it off, yet I felt a horrid want of something I must have or go distracted.

I could neither eat, work or sleep. I entered a reformatory and prayed for strength, still I must drink. I lived so over 20 years. I was sent to the house of correction a8 a vagrant. If my family had been provided for I would have preferred to remain there, out of liquor and temtation.

Explaining my affliction to feland experience advised me to make a low prisoners a man of much education vintage of ground quassia, a half ounce steeped in a pint of vinegar, and to put a teaspoonful of it in a little water and drink it down every time the liquor thirst came upon me violently. I found it satisfied the cravand suffused a feeling of stimulation and strength. When I was discharged I continued this cure and persevered until this thirst was overcome. For two years I have not handled or smelled whisky and I have no desire for It. Lately to try my strength I have handled and smelt whiskey but have no satisfaction drink in I give this for the consideration tor the information of several fwhom I know.

I have recovered by the same means. Thy it you drinking men and respect yourselves, your wives and children, whom you have taken to protect, love and cherish. through life!" Stop for one moment and think what that means an you promised before God. REFORMED. Buffalo, Sept.
