Hurry! 2ND FLOOR Miss Swayze's Rites Will Be Held On Friday The funeral of Miss Mildred Swayze, daughter of the late Captain and Mrs. L. H.

Swayze, well known family here, who died Wednesday in a hospital here following a heart attack, will be held in the Hixson Brothers Funeral chapel Friday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Riverview Burial park. Born in Winnsboro. Miss Swayze moved with her family to Monroe and was reared and educated in Ouachita parish. She is survived by one sister, Miss Daisy Swayze of Monroe; two brothers, Marcus D.

Swayze, Monroe, and L. H. Swayze, of Atlanta, two nephews, L. H. Swayze, III, Atlanta, and Marcus Monroe; and three Judy, Desha and Courtney all of Monroe.

Pallbearers will be Bert Coverdale, Merlin Crowe, R. H. Henderson, Ernest Hammond, Guy Gannaway, and O. H. Walker.

NE Homecoming Plans Complete Students of Northeast Louisiana State College, upping the rivalry between their school and the homecoming opponents, Southern State of Magnolia, last night the mascot of the Arkansas team and this morning held a rally, during which they put the animal on display. Shortly after 8 a. m. the student body saw the naping victim, a donkey. The activities for the annual homecoming will be climaxed Saturday with a football game between the two colleges at 8 p.m.

on Brown field. The activities will include a parade, dedication of College Town area, an open house for students, friends and parents, and a dance, following ihe football game. Opening the traditional event will 1 be a parade at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with an estimated 20 floats and 40 1 cars representing various campus organizations. The caravan will form on Riverside Avenue, proceed to Louisville, then cross the new bridge over the Ouachita River.

Turning south on Trenton Street in West Monroe, the vehicles will proceed to the old bridge, over which they will turn into DeSiard Street and travel east to Five Points. The floats and cars will continue to the inter- section of Louisville Avenue, Ster- lington Road and DeSiard. Maj. Richard Koos and other! members of the Military staff will be in charge of coordination of the parade. Dedication of College Town at the intersection of the three streets will take place immediately after the parade, and prizes will be awarded to the two winning floats and the highest rated car in the I procession.

These gifts will be made by the Student Council, according to a custom of several years. Mayor W. L. fJack) Howard will cut tne ribbon which will officially designate the area surrounding Northeast State which will be called College Town. Large neon signs at the intersection of Louisville Avenue, DeSiard Street and the Ster- lingt Road and at the entrance of Edgewater Gardens will mark the section which has been designated by the City Council as College Town.

Elvis Stout, Student Council vice president, will be master of ceremonies. Queen of Homecoming and the maid of honor will be announced in pre-game ceremonies scheduled at 7:30. p.m. Selection of these two coeds will be determined today by popular vote of the student body, but the results will be a top secret until time for the coronation at the game. Shelby Jackson, state superintendent of education, will crown Other special events are scheduled for the half-time, with music by the Northeast band and special formations included.

A fire works display also is to be featured as part of the show. The evening will be completed with a dance in the college gymnasium, where Jack Redmen will play for the students alumni, and friends of the college. The entertainment will take place in a setting which will represent the most elaborate decorations which have been used at a Northeast dance, according to Student Body President Bobby Joe Oden.
