SCHUETTE MEMPHIS, Tenn, L. L. Schuette, 66, a retired teacher formerly of New Madrid, died Sunday in his home at 5007 Dowling Cove. He had lived in Memphis since 1 969 following retirement after 35 years in the teaching profession. He taught 31 years in New Madrid schools which included 19 years as superintendent.

He was also an athletic coach and area basketball referee. He was born Dec. 4, 1906 in Jackson, to the late Lewis F. and Louella Smith Schuette. On July 29, 1934 in Caruthersville, he married Pansy Harris, who survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Melinda Schuette of the home and Mrs. Carol Moore and Mrs. Kay Johnson of Memphis; four sisters, Mrs. Lois Mason of Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Lyola Thompson of Cairo, 111., Mrs.

Margaret Young of St. Louis and Leona Bock of Cape ira rdeau and five grandchildren. Friends may call at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church in New Madrid with the Revs.

MCVEIGH Walter E. McVeigh, 89, of 443 Smith St. died Sunday at Chaffee General Hospital. He was born March 30, 1884 in Sandoval, 111. Surviving are his widow, Allie McVeigh; three stepsons, Ronnie Lebow of Sikeston and Bill and Clayton Allen who live in Arkansas; one stepdaughter, Timmie Hosten; and 15 step- grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today in Christian Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. R. C.

Martin, pastor of the Smith Street Church of God, officiated. Burial was in Matthews Cemetery. F. Cline, D-Sikeston, will open his district office May 4 in room 213 of the Sikeston Activity Center. While the legislature is in session, the office will be open on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 2:00 noon. Rep.

Cline had promised during his campaign last year that he would have a district office in both Scott and Stoddard counties. A district office in the courthouse at Bloomfield has already been opened. Official Missouri road maps, brochures on state parks and other material will be available in the office. LOUIS (AP) Added rainfall in Illinois and Iowa may force already swollen rivers to rise again, the river district office of the National Weather Service predicted Monday night. Two to three inches of rain had fallen in northern portions of Iowa and Illinois Monday night and flash-flood warnings were issued in Illinois, a weather service forecaster said. In a 4 5-minute period, three inches of rain fell at West Jersey, 111., near Peoria, he said. the Kansas City forecast center is thinking in terms of some type of new crest on the Mississippi, possibly around 40 the spokesman said. Officials of the Corps of Engineers were warning families already forced from their homes during the worst flooding in history, not to return too soon, emphasizing that the rivers were still well over flood stage.
