of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen George WSIB loses appeal The ederal Communications Commission (CC) has denied an appeal by Sea Island Broadcasting Corporation to reconsider a June 1976 decision to revoke the license of Beaufort Radio station WSIB According to Sea Island President Charles Bell Sr the CC ruling will be appealed to the US Court of Appeals in Washington DC CC hearings on the charges were held between Jan 11 1974 and Jan 10 1975 The agency's final decision revoking operating license was handed down June 24 1976 ordering the station to cease operations on Oct 4 1976 WSIB however was allowed to continue operations pending final appeals In latest effort to retain license and or sell WSIB three basic arguments were presented to the Commission: CC should allow Bell to sell the station June 1976 decision was predetermined leaks prejudiced the decision All three points were rejected by the commission The WSIB case now advances to the US Court of Appeals Said Bell optimistic because this is the first time in what we believe is an unbiased The case could now possibly go as far as the Supreme Court or back to the CC for review Sea Island's appeal Bell explained
