Divers Halt Search For Missing Youths DEATH VALLEY (AP)-Five divers climbed out of a vast water-filled cavern late Tuesday night and sadly told relatives of two youths that no trace had been found of their bodies. Officials conducting die search immediately called a halt to further rescue attempts for David Rose, 20 and Paul Giancon-tieri, 19, two brothers-in-law who vanished while skindiving Sunday night in nearby Devil's Hole. Among those assembled outside the craggy entrance to the cavern were Roses bride of two months, Paula, 20, and Giancon-tieri's mother. Paula is Gian-contieris sister. Lt.

Walter Butt of the Clarke County, Sheriffs Department, said the search would have continued if there was any indication that the bodies could be discovered. Authorities gave up hope early Tuesday that they could be found alive. Devils Hole is administered by Death Valley National Monument personnel but is actually a few miles inside Nevada. Rose and Giancontieri, both of Las Vegas, vanished Sunday in the warm and mysterious depths of the volcanic fissure. I dived to 315 feet, maybe its a record, I don't know, but at the end of the tube it opens again into something else. We dont know what the next room is, or if it's a room at all. It's like infinity. The water is so clear we can see with our flashlights 30 or 40 feet. To see something is just a matter of hitting it with your light.
