1.93 Cato, Li fern Arkansas ty C. TILLMAN AsMclttorf Wrltar A wild goose has found apparent winter safety on the farm of John Powell, four miles northeast of Paragould. The goose lighted on the farm nearly two weeks ago and began mingling with a flock of tame geese kept by Powell. "loosens twice daily by flying in a two or three mile circle around the farm, calling for the land-bound geese to follow. So far it has stayed close enough to the farm to stay off of some hunter's dinner table.

When the Stuttgart Daily Leader received the rosters of the program for a Paragould football program It prints, the numbers of the players were written out in Latin. Quipped Paragould Principal Orville Roberts, all school activities should have "some educational value." Loss of a gun doesn't bother deer hunter Gary Bryant of Batcsville. He was scouting the countryside with a pair of binoculars during the last deer season and spied a prize buck in the distance on Jamestown Mountain. He ran to his car and started off in the direction of the animal. But when he stopped, he found he had left his gun behind.

Undaunted, he borrowed a gun the next day and took off after another buck, this time in the White River Refuge. He downed a nine point, 225-pound specimen. His luck carried even a i further. Max Bishop found i rifle and returned it. A young Stuttgart father ol three has invented a popular item for the younger set oul of plain cardboard.

From watching the kids play with an old box at home, Jay McEntire conceived the idea ol a cardboard tepee that folds up He made one and his wife painted it. It was taken to Little Rock box manufacturing liked the ides so much it turned out 500 of UK. tepees for sales trials. AIM H. W.thburn Iditor A PuMMwr Paul H.

It usually is reluctantly admitted only when the replacement program is heralded. Over the weekend ABC, not unexpectedly, announced a new program to fill its p.m. spot on Saturday nights, starting Jan: 23. It used about 300 words to extol the series, "The King Family" as "an hour of. music and fun" but not one prd was spent on "The Outer imits," a science fiction an- hology series which will slip way quietly in the middle of second season.

The demise of the program, which often featured weird characters from outer space, is in interesting subject for specu- alion, particularly in a season when creatures from outer pace and other worlds are then vogue. It seems most likely, however, that "The Outer Limits" was a victim of a tough time II was renewed after a good year in an early Monday evening hour. ABC shifted it to Saturday, in an lour which also gave the network trouble last season 'Hoolenanny" died there. It was, for the most part, a quiet and uneventful television weekend. Steve Lawrence and Juliet Prowse were stylish and interesling to watch Friday night in an NBC special.

Gordon and Shela MacRae were the iright spots in Ed Sullivan's CBS hour Sunday night, particularly Sheila's devastating mimicking of Carol C'hanning and Barbara Streisand. The Republican national chairman acts as mod' erator at such meetings. "This might lend itself to expansion so that all elements of the party could be represent' ed," Dirksen said. Republican governors who meel in Denver Dec. 3-4 are expected to come up with some recommendations on how to broaden the base of the party's appeal to voters after the severe defeat the GOP took in the Johnson landslide. Sen.

Thruston B. Morion of Kenlucky, who is expecled lo be renamed chairman of Ihe Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, urged in a separate interview that the GOP concen- Irale on trying to win back congressional seats in the 1966 election. "We should concentrate on 1966 and forget 1968 for while," he said. "If we can rebound two years from now the men who have taken the leadership in rebuilding the party naturally will have consideration In picking our presidential candidate in 1968." Morton said he is that the Republicans must giye representation to all party factions if they are to 9 comeback..
