By MICHAEL KERN AN Tribune Church Editor- Christmas came on Tuesday night at the First Baptist Church. 1 4 1 Pine cones and stocking decked the social hall, and tiny sleigh bells festooned the walls. Red and green were the colors, and presents were piled on a table. Several large decorated cakes waited to be carved up.

His wife is the former Miss Lee Smith, daughter of the Rev. and.Mrs. Walter B. Smith, formerly of the church' here Hostesses at the party were the circles "of the Womens Missionary' the star guests were the senior Smiths. The Rev.

Mr. Smith, now of Paradise, was pastor of the First' Baptist Church here for nearly 12 years. The couple showed color slides of the Weavers in Africa. Let. us drop in on the meeting.

Former members of the First Christian Church of Ogden, many of the families had not seen each other for more than 20 years. The group agreed to form the Utah Christian Fellowship of Northern California.

Six areas will be represented: Watsonville, Tracy, Modesto, Berkeley, San Mateo and Redwood City. Five of the 10 families meeting are now members of the church here. They had dinner at the home of G. W. Carpenter, Canada Road.

Here are some excerpts from a letter by Mrs. Weaver, which show that life In the Congo can sound a good deal like life in America, except for occasional references to monkeys and such things.

"Schopls started and. believe me, that's a cause for great rejoicing at our house. Can you Imagine how quiet it Is around the house now, with four of themioff to school at But it really keeps us hopping from about 6:3.0. "Jerry gets up and lets the monkeys out of their night box, then gets breakfast. I help the girls dress, dress Pam and myself, and comb three heads of hair.

Then we have breakfast they' do, that Is. Then I supervise the teeth-brushlng, check the fingernails, fill the canteens and finally breathe a sigh of relief when they march off to the bus. "Today at noon we almost had heart failure. Rusty, Suzanne and Nancy came home on the bus but Cindy wasnt which Included children's clothes, pajamas, shirts and money. The June Beaver Circle was in charge of refreshments, and there were coffee and tea and punch as well as a variety cakes.
