Robert S. Bruner, Attorney lor Plaintiffs 212 W. 5th Street, Carroll, Iowa Aug. 23, 30; Sept. 6, 1957 in the laboratory," Professor Csanyi said. * Perfected In 1986 The atomization • ide"a wai conceived by an American scientist living in Switzerland. He was Or. Albert Sommer and he perfected the process in 1936 and used it on roads in the Bavarian Alps and also in the Swiss Alps. In 1939 the process was introduced in the United States along the eastern seaboard. Professor Csanyi's first contact with the new type of black-top came while he was a maintenance engineer in New York City. In 1949 he came to Iowa State College. The Iowa Highway commission became Interested in developing the process to utilize local aggregates for low cost roads and then Professor Csanyi set up the Bituminous Research Laboratory at the college in 1950. Test Section Laid After a year of laboratory experiments, a 500-foot test section was laid on the campus five years ago by Professor Csanyi and a group of students. That test section has successfully withstood the rigors of time and the incessant pounding of wheels on an average of 3,000 vehicles p*er day. Since the test section at Ames was a definite success, the 1 0 w a Highway Research Board approved field tests this summer. The first project was in Ringgold County where, a one-mile stretch has been laid. The two projects in Carroll County and the one in Audubon County will be completed this month and that is -expected to wind up field experiments this year. Since the paving machine lays the two-inch layers, or lifts, at the rate of 17-feet per minute, it is estimated the two-mile surfacing projects will require about seven days each. When Professors Csanyi and Nady return to Ames this fall they will find themselves right back on the ground with more hot-mix as- phaltic surfacing. The agriculture department of the college wants two feed lots covered with the new type black-top before the first snow flies. INVITATION Invitations are being sent out by mail to all of our producers and friends in the Carroll trade area. Watch for yours! PURPOSE The general purpose of the meeting is to show you ladies how to boost your egg earnings. With prospects bright for a strong fall and winter egg market, now is the time to get your laying flock ready for top production. One of the best ways to help your pullets and hens pay off is to cut your feed costs per dozen eggs. It may mean a real boost in your egg earnings this year. A brand new film, "Looking Ahead in the Egg Industry," will show you how to save up to 7 cents per dozen with efficient Purina feeding. Charts will be shown that give the current trends, in the egg industry and there will be important information on the necessity of good strong management, sanitation and feeding programs. MEALS The dinner will be prepared and ready to serve to you upon arrival. Serving begins at 6:30. PRIZES Several valuable prizes will be given away at the party. Be sure you are here; you might be a winner. As usual, we will appreciate your help and cooperation in making this dinner party a success. We'll be looking forward to seeing each of you on Thursday.
