The couple were married in 1941 and have two daughters, Kathryn, Mrs. Stan Berkland of Fenton, and Marilyn of Minneapolis. A family dinner is planned for October 9. meeting with Rev. Spicer leading the devotions and the topic. Senfral Girl Gets Softball Concussion FENTON - Cheryl Berkland, Sentral High School senior and a member of the softball team, figures that sliding home on her head doesn't pay. She sustained a concussion during Thursday night's game between Sentral and West Bend. She had hit a long ball and turned it Into a home run by sliding Into home plate head first. She was a bit shaken up on the play but stayed in the game and again got on base the same inning. After being able to score on a teammate's hit she returned to the bench where she became hysterical upon finding that she could not see. A West Bend physician's examination revealed that she suffered a concussion. But, Sentral won the game 33 to 141 Honor Board Members For School Service FENTON - A lifetime pass to all Sentral School activities will be given to former school board members who have served at least two terms on the board. This action was voted by the school board at Its organizational meeting here last week. Lawrence Newbrough, Robert Hanna, Willard Menz and Verl J -Smith are eligible for the passes. The board saw Robert Fortney sworn in as the new member and Robert Schmidt was elected president. The board decided to purchase a camera to be used for taking pictures for the school annual. A Sunray DX Oil Co. bid of 10.157 cents a gallon for fuel oil was accepted by the board. Also accepted was a Farm Service Co. bid of 11.9 cents per gallon for LP gas. Roxana Voigt Of Fenton To Wed This Fall Woman's Club Meeting At Eigler Home FENTON - The Fenton Woman's Club met Monday even- Ing, Sept. 19, at the home of Mrs. Paul Eigler. Co-hostess was Mrs. Art Prlebe of Lone Rock. Mrs. Prlebe and Mrs. Eigler were also on the program committee. Their speaker was Susan Hantelman, daughter of the Wm. Hantelmans of Fenton. Miss Hantelman Is a missionary nurse home from Nigeria, Africa, for a three month's leave of absence. She showed colored slides and explained her work and the culture of the people of the area. Seventeen members answered roll call, "something I saw this summer that was interesting or unusual." Guests of the group we re Luella Newel, Mrs. Ida Dreyer, Mrs. Wm. Hantelman and Mrs. Laurence Newbrough of Lone Rock- Lunch was served by the hostesses. The October meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Arlo Ranney with Mrs. E. C. Welsbrod as co-hostess. At Lutheran Men's Conclave FENTON - Six area men attended the Iowa District West Lutheran Layman's League 5th annual district leaders conference at Auburn, la. Sunday afternoon. They were James Meyer, Algona zone LLL president and William Hantelman, assistant Lutheran Hour chairman, both of Fenton; Rev. Kautsct pastoral advisor for the Algona zone LLL and Wilbur Roeber, membership chairman of the LLL Algona zone, both of Whlttemorej and Carol Willrett, LLL board member of the Algona zone from Algona; and Ronald Meyer, LLL Algona zone vice president from Rodman. Fenton T. & C. Club Has Talk On Nigeria FENTON - The Town and Country Woman's Club met Tuesday evening, Sept, 20, at the home of Mrs. Eugene Huskamp with Mrs. Don Shaw as co- hostess. Susan Hantelman, missionary nurse from Nigeria, Africa, spoke on the life of the Nigerian women. Plans were started for the annual children's Halloween party sponsored by the group. Distribution of towels hemmed by the blind and purchased by the women was made. Twenty-three members were in attendance. The group welcomed back Mrs. Clayton Wolff, a former member of the group. Lunch was served by the hostesses.
