Bernadette Schieoer's Betrothal Announced Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schieber, Stanberry, announce tho engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Bernadette, to Stephen J. Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs.

John S. Meyer, also of Stanberry. Miss Schieber, a 1960 graduate of Jefferson High School, Conception, attended Mount St. Scholastics College, Atchison, and is presently employed as a secretary at the Conception Abbey Press, Conception. Mr.

Meyer, a 1956 graduate of the same school, served two years with the Army and is presently engaged in farming near Conception. The wedding has been set for Sept. 7. MRS. MONTGOMERY If SATURDAY SUPPER GUESTS Guests at a porch supper Saturday night of Mrs.

Mrs. Josie Cockayne re mained in Maryville where she will be a guest for the next few weeks of Her son and MARYVILLE WOMEN TO ATTEND CONVENTION Six Maryville women will go to Denver, this weekenc to participate in the nationa convention of the Missouri Division of the American Association of University Women.

Dr. Blanche Dow, president of Cottey College, Nevada PRETTY PAIR PRINTED PATTERN and former chairman of the Department of Foreign languages at Northwest State College, has been nominated for the presidency of the Association. To be considered at the convention is the proposal to change the structure of the program of the organization, placing emphasis on four major areas of study local problems, international areas of concern, cultural arts and education. The local delegates include Mrs Harvey White, Maryville Branch vice president; Mrs. Charles Bell, Miss Chloe Mil- ikan.

Mrs. I. E. Tul- och. regent, led the pledge to the flag and the group sang the third verse of Star Spang- ed They were accompanied by Mrs.

W. J. Mont gomery. Mrs. Montgomery gave excerpts of newspaper items about what DAR over the nation are doing to ireserve, restore and mark historical places.

Mrs. R. Bruce Montgomery, chapter librarian, told of facilities for DAR books in the new public library. The regent appointed Mrs. Virginia Diggs as chairman of the Junior American Citizens.

Progress of the Bells for project was noted by the committees which will endeavor to contract by letter every community in Nodaway and Worth counties to urge the ringing of bells in public buildings for four minutes at p.m. July 4. The Maryville chapter will host the DAR district meeting Oct. 3. The planning committee are Mrs.

Albert Kuchs, Mrs. Quinn, Mrs. J. A. Anderson and Mrs.

L. F. Bosch. Mrs. Stinson will ho chairman of registrations.

Mrs. Donald Corrough is district director. Mrs. Robert Geist, chapter registrar, needs old city directories and county maps to aid in establishing family records. Miss Cathie Cooper, Salma, Mrs.

The cake was topped with lattice work and an inverted white bell containing tinted green carnations. Also on the table were candles decorated with white and silver. Assist at Reception Mrs. Virgil Courtney and Mrs. Sydney Buttenck, aunts of the bride, poured the punch.

Mrs. Gerald Courtney, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Edgar Ditamore served the cake. Mrs. Clarence Bainum was in charge of the reception.

Others assisting were Mrs. Douglas Dempsey, Mrs. W. J. Dempsey, Mrs.

Forrest Stark, Mrs. Herbert Gard, Mrs Carl Winell and Mrs. Basil McIntyre. For her wedding trip Mrs. Wilmarth chose a two piece dark brown suit with white accessories and an orchid corsage.

The couple will reside in Maryville where the groom owns and operates Mobile Mill. The bride will teach physical education this in the Savannah school system. Miss Jeannie Morris, Maryville, organist, accompanied Don Neidt, Des Moines, as he sang Me Not to Leave and as the couple knelt at the altar and the congregation joined in with the and the soloist sang Perfect Wears Floor Length The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of frost white silk organza and imported Alencon lace with sleeves coming to points over the hands. The natural scallop of the lace was repeated at the V-neckline and a wide panel of lace extended down the front of the slim bodice and bell skirt. Hand sewn pearls and French bows accented the front of the gown. Her bouffant veil of English illusion fell from a forward half hat of silk organza with sprays of orange blossoms and bow trim.

She carried a bouquet of white orchids and ste- phonitis on a white Bible. Attendant Wears Apricot Mrs. Richard Suess, Maryville, was the matron of honor. She was attired in an apricot Studio dacron and cotton street length gown with a bell shaped skirt and embroidered jacket with bow trim. The headpiece was a circle with apricot bow and tulle.

She wore white shoes and gloves and carried a white fan with a bouquet of tangerine carnations and apricot ribbon streamers. Miss Carolyn Courtney, Lincoln, cousin of the bride, was the bridesmaid. She was dressed identically to the matron of honor. Miss Debra Courtney, Maryville, and Miss Kathleen Courtney, Effingham, cousins of the bride, served as candle- lighters. They also were dressed similarly to the matron of honor and wore rist corsages of tangerine carnations.

The flow ergirl was Miss Kim Curtis, Creston. niece of the groom. She carried a white basket and scattered red rose petals. Chris McCoy, Creston, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer. Brother Was Best Man Neil Wilmarth, Corning, was his best man.

Robert McCoy, Creston, brother-in-law of the groom, served as groomsman. Ushers were Richard Suess and Darryl and Rodney Couts. brothers of the bride, all of Maryville, and Dale Hunziger, St. Joseph. The mother wore a mint green lace jacket dress with beige and brown accessories.
