It is an action brought by Thompson for damages for being forcibly ejected from the house he was occupying in indoin. the ejection heing illegal, as lie claims. A great many witnesses nave been examined for against, and a good deal of interest manifested.

The case was given to the jury last Tuesday morning, iait up to the time ot going to press Wednesday noon) no verdict had been reached. The II 17 case is now boimr tried. The mystery about the '-stolen" watch has been ail cleared up. Sev eral weeks ago, Miss Moore, one of the teachers in the public school, lost her watch and chain, and a certain schoolboy was very. strongly suspected of having stolen it.

Much scheming was indulged in to surprise the boy into a confession, but he stoutly declared his innocence. It now appears that J. B. Felton, a prominent citizen of King City township, lound the watch on Main street, on the day on which it was lost, and thinking it was a child's "dumb," without examining it dropped it into his overcoat pocket. Arriving home he discovered that he had made a valuable find.

Mr. Felton is an intelligent man, and he watched the newspapers, expecting to find the watch advertised, but as the loser did not search for watch, he began searching for loser. He was successful and the the last her. Monday restored the watch to Moral Advertise. Andrew Tudhopc, of Castle township, during a fit of insanity, last Saturday, made a violent attack upon his wife, which almost resulted fatally.

He threw her upon the floor and placing his knees upon her chest, choked her until she became unconscious, only desisting when he thought her dead. As soon as the news reached town Deputy Sheriff Graves hastened out and took ludhopein charge, whom he found engaged in sweeping up the biood upon the floor, whde his wife lay still unconscious. Blood had been forced from her mouth and ears, and had also been vomited up from her stomach. She lay in a stupor until Tuesday morning, not being able to move, except to turn her head a little from side to side. It is thought, how ever, that she will recover.

The deed was done in the presence of their children, of whom they have four, the oldest being about twelve years. Tudhope was last spring pronounced of unsound mind and was admitted to the asylum at Osawatomie on the first of May last. He made his escape from there in June following and returned home. His friends thought he was so far recovered as not to be dangerous, and did not send him back. He soon alter went to Colorado, only returning home about two weeks ago.

He appeared to be all right, and application was about to be made for his discharge as cured, but was delayed owing to some question of costs in connection with the inquiry necessary. Tudhope is now held here in custody, and will be returned to the asylum as. soon as room can be made for him there. "Consumption can be Cared." Dr. J.

The right of way commissioners were in town Monday and settled with several parties west of town in a very liberal manner. There is no right of way being paid for, nor work done east of town, and the word is given out that if Marion county townships do not vote aid, the route may be run directly here from Harrington in Dickerson county, and so miss Marion county with this line altogether.
