The card they drew seemed to be a jinx though because it turned out to be the T-Blrds who have a 15 and 2 record and had already beaten the .Spartans twice during the regular season. The T-Blrds quenched Spalding's first round bid behind the shooting of Marv Schipper with 22 and Doug Becker with 15 points with a final score of 66 to 54; . Floyd valley ted throughout the first half by 8 points and settled for their 32 to 24 lead at half, This lead kept Spaldlng playing a catch-up ballgame. One player for the Spartans seemed determined to change the tide since he was the only one on his team who was hot. Wayne Horkey the leading scorer for the game with 31 points, was this man.
