Hobby Show Sot For Nov. 4 At V.F.W. Hall Hero Plans are coming along well for launching of the Home Economics Extension programs in Kossuth and Palo Alto counties. Principal events and meetings planned, include the kick-off tea for club chairman and vice chairman of the organized clubs in Kossuth County on Tuesday, Sept. 20 in the Extension meeting room in Algona, It is at this meeting that clubs will receive information about programs that their leaders can use in their meetings during the year. There will be another Hobby Show In Algona this year on Friday, Nov. 4. It will be held at the V. F. W. hall in Algona. The show will be conducted so that hobbyists can demonstrate and show you "how." Hobbies are becoming more important because of the increase in leisure time, plus making life more interesting after retirement. We are especially interested in having men come to the show and tell about their hobbies-so if you, or a neighbor or a rela- tive,Jiave a hobby that you would like to show, please call or write the Extension Office in Algona and Carolyn Carlson, Extension assistant, will get in touch with you about the details of the Hobby Show. This show is open to the public and we hope to see many of you on Friday, Nov. 4 at the V. F. W. hall in Algona. Drama Activity, Corwith-Wesley School, Begins The beginning of another school year finds the dramatics department of Corwith - Wesley High School planning for another interesting program of activities. The dramatics department will handle both the fall and spring production, .and no individual class plays will be presented this year. Under the direction and supervision of Mr. Hunget, 16 sophomores, juniors, and seniors will make up the Viking Players group. There are many activities connected with the department besides actual classroom work. Included in these are the fall production, a special Christmas production in connection with the music departments, State Speech Contest, and a spring production. The fall production, which has been chosen, is "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis," and is scheduled for Friday, October 14 at 8:00 p.m. This hilarious three- act comedy is sure to provide local theatre goers with a fine night of entertainment. Mrs. Chambers, Ex-Resident Of Area, Passes Mrs. Ed. Chambers of Los Angeles, California passed away on Monday, Sept. 12th. Graveside Rites will be held at the Corwith Cemetery, Wednesday, Sept. 28th at 2 p.m. Mrs. Chambers was a longtime resident of the Corwith and Algooa communities before the family moved to Los Angeles. Union M-D Club Union Township Mothers and Daughters club met at the home of Ethel Smith for the first meeting of the new year. Twenty- one members and one guest, Mrs. Algona, (la.) Helen Vogel received a birthday gift for having a birthday in Aug. and Mamie Winkel one for having a birthday In Sept. The hostess number was a poem "Wings of Prayer" read by Dorothy Hanna. For the program, MaeSchenck showed pictures of countries she or her family had travelled In and also told about them. She also gave some interesting facts about far away places, little known about until recently. Everyone present signed a card and sent get well wishes to Doretta Plumb, a club member who is ill. Honor Old Friends A number of old friends from the Burt area attended the 46th wedding anniversary open house for Mr. and Mrs. Jess Thorson at Ames, Sunday. They are former Burt residents.
