LOCALS MRS. HENRY Bruns was visited for two days last week by her son, Thomas Bruns / Rapid City, S. Dak. MR. AND MRS. Herman Dreesman spent the weekend at Hastings, Minn, with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Koppes. MRS. HELEN Putzstuck received word of the birth of a new granddaughter born to her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schumacher, Pine Bluff, Ark. Mr. and Mrs. John Putz- stuck and three sons, Denver, Colo., recently visited his mother, Mrs. Helen Putzstuck, and other relatives and friends here. KENNETH KERN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kern of Algona, is home on furlough from a year's army service in Thailand. He is to report back to Fort Sill, Okla. in early October. JUDY, DAUGHTER of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Egel, was elected alternate cheerleader to the varsity squad recently at Wayne State College, Wagne, Neb. She is a freshman student and was a cheerleader at Algona high school. DALE TEETER, son of Mr. au-J Mrs. Martin Potratz, spent the weekend at Whittemore. He is a freshman student at Drake University. MR. AND MRS. JERRY Downey, Iowa City spent the weekend here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Downey. LuVerne Sends Big Delegation Off To College LUVERNE - Students from Lu- Verne attending colleges this fall are as follows: Iowa State College, Cedar Falls - Nancy Brink and David Naffziger. Freshmen are Dawn Lindebak and June Hanselman. Westmar College, LeMars — Suzanne Dudley and Robert Maas. Connie Schnetzer is a freshman. Hamilton Business College, Mason City - Connie Sanford and Linda Daley. Drake University, Des Moines - Mary Daley,.a senior. Morningside College, Sioux City - Linda Nelson. Gene Will is in Sioux City attending Area Technical school. Community College, Ft. Dodge - Earl Will, a freshman. Mankato State College - Dean and Ronald Trauger. Iowa State University, Ames- Dale Kubly, Sheri Ramus, Tim Blumer, Douglas Holmes, John Wickett, David Mueller, Daryl Jagels, Raeann Brink, Sandra Walline, Kris Hanselman, and Clara and Elaine Schnakenberg. Northwest Missouri State College, Maryville, Mo. - Carol Ristau, Julie Faulstick and Meredith Gjerstadt. Concordia High School, St. Paul, Minn. - Joel Mueller. Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines- Louise Faulstick. State University of Iowa, Iowa City - Mrs. Jerry Quebee, former Mary Lee Darby, will complete her course in nursing. Ronald Clark will continue his post graduate course. - o Mr. and Mrs. Micky Baker, Mason City, called on home town friends recently. They were taking Mrs. Baker's grandmother, Mrs. Edith Prior, to Ft. Dodge, tor a bus to return to Sioux City. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kubly, LuVerne and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ruberg , Ft. Dodge, visited the Minnesota State Fair in Minneapolis. They then visited in Lake City, Minn., with the Larry Kublys, and in Zumbro Falls, Minn, with the John Kublys. In Rushford, Minn, they visited with the Frances Ruberg family, son of the Peter Rubergs. Mr. and Mrs. John Kubly, Zumbro Falls, Minn., were weekend guests at the parental Melvin Kubly home at LuVerne, and the Lloyd Lennings, Humboldt. John came for Guard duty. Mrs. Melinda Frenz has returned to her Mason City home after a week's visit with her daughter, the Theodore Johnson Tuttday, S«pt. 20, 1966 Afgona, (la.) Upper DM Moin«s family. Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Johnson and son were her sister, Bonnie Frenz, Minneapolis, Minn., and their brother, the Robert Frenz family, Mason City. New Policeman A Humboldt man Jerry Thompson, 21, joined the Algona police department, filling a vacancy created recently with the resignation of Bill Rasmussen, this week. The department now has a full staff of eight men on duty. Thompson is a graduate of Humboldt High School, attended Ft. Dodge Junior College and had been in the insurance business. He is not married.
