APPOINTMENT OF SUPERVISOR TO FILL VACANCY WHEREAS, a vacancy exists In the membership of the Board of Supervisors of Sioux County, Iowa, In the First District of said County, due to the resignation of Verne J. Mallette, Incumbent. WHEREAS, Section 69.8, subsection 5 of the 1971^Code of Iowa, makes It the duty of the Clerk of the District Court, the Auditor, and the Recorder to fill such vacancy. Minutes of October 19th, 1971 were read and on motion and vote stand approved as read. 3 M Company of Minneapolis and Eastman Company of New York made separate bids for the photo equipment for microfilm in County Recorder's office this date. Chairman requested Board to look at some equipment that has been installed for a year or more. Canton, South Dakota Recorder's office was selected and Board designated Friday, October 22nd, 1971 at 1:00 o'clock P.M. to view said equipment in action. Upon the recommendation of Bernard L. Smith, sufficient recommendation has been submitted to fully quality for member of the Soldier's Relief Commission to fill out present term of Eldon Ericson who resigned from the Commission. Moved by Smith and seconded by Wissink to have Bruce Eriscon as member of Soldier's Relief Commission, term to be from June 1, 1971 to June 1, 1974 (3 years). Hiring of a marriage counsellor which was presented by Welfare Department has been tabled for the present or until Federal or State Grants can be obtained. Purchased from Paper Calmensen Co,, St, Paul, Minnesota. County Engineer met with the Board this date to implement the 1972 road program. Further studies and suggestions will be made before final adoption. RESOLUTION WHEREAS: The best interests of Sioux County are served by arranging highway construction lettings so that the size of the work let is of the amount most desirable by contractors, we, therefore, will combine with the O'Brien County Highway Department in the letting of Asphaltic Concrete Resurfacing work for the year 1972, This will combine Sioux County work, Sioux-O'Brien County line work, and O'Brien County work into one letting but with the respective counties signing their own contracts and being held responsible for their own Instpection and engineering.
