Holiday nod liars 1 cup all-purpose flour l\-> teaspoons baking powder \'-> teaspoon baking soda i/o teaspoon salt V-l CI <P firmly packed light brown sugar 14 cup margarine, softened Vt CU P milk 2 eggs 1 cup chopped California walnuts 1 cup chopped candied pineapple 1 cup whole candied cherries 1 pkg. (6 oz.) chocolate chips Stir together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Cream sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Blend in milk and eggs, one at a time. Gradually beat flour mixture into creamed mixture. Fold in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased 7 x 11-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, or until done. Add brandy and orange juice. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Turn jar back and forth several times to distribute liquid. Stuff each date with walnut half or large piece. Makes 3 dozen. chocolate kissed charmers 56 California Walnut halves 23 Premium saltine crackers, finely rolled (about cup crumbs) 1 /3 cup flaked coconut 3 egg whites, at room temperature 14 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 cup granulated sugar iy> tablespoons instant coffee 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Mint Wafers Finely chop 20 walnut halves. Combine with next two ingredients. Set aside. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add combined sugar and instant coffee; continue beating until stiff, but not dry. Fold in dry ingredients and vanilla extract. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased and floured cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Melt mint wafers over hot water; spread on tops of cookies; garnish with walnut halves. Refrigerate until glaze is set. Store in airtight tins with wax paper between layers. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
