McDonald Michael E. McDonald, 84, of Danville passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He had been in declining health for a number of years. He was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Danville, a son of the late Frank and Alice (Murphy) McDonald.

Mr. McDonald was a career Navy man, serving our country for more than 24 years. After his retirement from the Navy, he moved to Charleston, where he worked at the Kalou Lounge and enjoyed attending Citadel football games. Throughout life, he was an avid Notre Dame football fan. In 2002, he moved back to his hometown.

He is survived by a brother, Charles, and his wife, Linda McDonald, of Illinois; two sisters: Catherine Ellis and Mary Alice Shuler, both of Danville; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Francis McDonald and William McDonald; as well as a sister, Greta Venarchick-Campbell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at St. Joseph Church, 18 E.

Center Danville, with the Rev. Tri M. Luong celebrating Mass. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church Danville, on Friday from 9:30 a.m.

Shultz, 79, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her family at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community in Manheim on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

She resided there for the past two-and-a- half years. Born in Bloomsburg on Nov. 23, 1933, a daughter of the late Ralph and Reca Clorea Fritz Seltzer, she graduated from Mif High School. She resided in the Bloomsburg-Berwick area until 2000. She had been an inspector for Briar Knitting, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, Mount Hope campus and the Mount Hope Nazarene Community Bell Choir. She was resident Council president and participated in many of their activities and was a delight to all who knew her. A dedicated Sunday school teacher for many years, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and also was an avid reader. Preceding her death were two husbands, David L. Shultz and Stanley M.

Shultz; two brothers and two sisters: Clyde and Curtis Seltzer; Margery Youlls; and Meda Garrison; and son, Brian L. Shultz. Reca will be remembered by her children: John D. Shultz, Blossburg; Robert husband of Betty Mae Shultz, Berwick; Brenda wife of Allen Elson, Lancaster; Benjamin husband of Cindy Shultz, Elizabethtown; grandchildren: Sarah M. Shultz, Wellsville, N.Y.; Joshua husband of Cierra Shultz; Elyse S.

Shultz and Adam M. Shultz, both of Elizabethtown; great-granddaughter, Kairi Shultz, Blossburg; two brothers: Allen, husband of Nancy Seltzer, Pennsauken, N.J.; Corvin, husband of Eleanor Seltzer, Bloomsburg; two step daughters: Faye Ann Sees, Bloomsburg; Marlene, wife of Clair Harvey, Benton; step brother, Robert Powlus; step sister, Marion McAfee, Nescopeck. Hall Longtime president, owner of Benton Foundry Alfred B. Hall of Crystal Lake, Clifford Township, 71, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at his Crystal Lake home. Born in Hallstead, to the late Alfred J. and Helen Trowbridge Hall, Fritz was known for his strong work ethic, business sense, practical jokes and fun-loving spirit. In addition to his passion for boating and Crystal Lake living, Fritz lived and breathed for Benton Foundry where he served as President for over 37 years.

Prior to then, Fritz was employed at Hallstead Foundry from 1958 through 1974. Since taking over ownership of Benton Foundry in 1975, the operation has grown ten-fold and currently employs 275 with nearly 400 customers. tremendous foresight not only resulted in his being a leader in the metal-casting industry, but also led to the recent development of Benton on-site Discovery Center a place to explore and learn about the trade. Fritz was the past Director of the American Society; the American Cast Metals Association; the Gray and Ductile Iron Foundry Society and the National Association. Additionally, he was a member of the Iron Casting Order of Gates A 1960 graduate of Blue Ridge High School, Fritz attended Broome County Technical College.

He previously served as president of Hallstead Lions Club; past board member of Peoples National Bank, Hallstead, and of United Penn Bank, Dallas. Fritz was a member of Bluestone Lodge Caldwell Consistory and Irem Temple. He served as an elder of Presbyterian Church USA; was past president of Dallas Rotary Club; past president and board member of Crystal Lake League; past board member of Crystal Lake Private Park Association. He was also a longtime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas, and a member of Clarks Summit Presbyterian Church. Fritz was known for making at the lake, whipping adventurous passengers behind the boat on the inner tube, attracting dolphins in Cape Coral, riding his tractor, and adding a lot of magic into the lives of those he touched especially the lives of his grandchildren.

Fritz will sadly be missed by his wife, JoAnn Todd Hall; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Lauran Hall, Shavertown; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley and Philip Kindler, Dallas; his beloved grandsons: Kyle and Nicholas Hall and Tracey, TJ and Corey Kindler; and his mother- in-law, Claribel Todd, Crystal Lake. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Adams, Key Largo, Fla. He was preceded in death by his brother and dear friend Raymond Hall. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Elkview Country Club, Crystal Lake, on Saturday, March 30. Friends and family will gather at 9 a.m.

Curtis Lee Tyrrell Berwick man was outgoing and friendly Curtis Lee Tyrrell, 23, of Berwick died Friday, March 15, 2013, of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

He was born July 27, 1989, in Berwick, a son to Stephen Tyrrell and Brenda (Allen) Thomas. An outgoing, friendly, and caring person, he was anxiously awaiting the birth of his daughter. Surviving Curtis are his parents, brothers Stephen II and Russell Tyrrell, sister Melony Szepesi, half sister Samantha Tyrrell, grandmother Betty Tyrrell, nephews Landon and Logan Tyrrell, all of Berwick; stepmother Jodi Tyrrell, of Catawissa; step brother Nam Hyunh, of Berwick; step sister Hiedi Hyunh, of Catawissa; and Jennifer Mensinger, and her son, Brandon, of Berwick. Curtis was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Benjamin and Joan Allen; paternal grandfather Charles Tyrrell; and dear friend Jason Gensel. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.

Shoemaker, 78, of 18 Old Valley School Road, Danville, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013. She was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Danville, the daughter of the late Chester Sr. and Ethel (Gearhart) Share. She attended Danville schools and later worked for Roselon Yarns from 1953 to 1968.

Marie also worked for the Danville Metal Wire Company from 1968 until 1969. She retired from Key Motor Inn in 2007. Marie loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed reading, baking and gardening. She especially loved her weekly bingo games and shopping trips.

Family was life; she especially loved Christmas gatherings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 27 years, Bernard Shoemaker in 1979; an infant son in 1953; an infant grandson, Zachary W. DeGreen, in 2007; three brothers: Chester Share Clark Share and Martin Share, as well as three sisters: Gwendolyn Barnes, Nancy Rapp and Violet Hort. She is survived by two daughters: Rosemarie and her husband David Prutzman, and Kathleen and her husband Harold DeGreen all of Danville; a son, Bernard Jr. and his wife Annette Shoemaker, of Bloomsburg; grandsons: Christopher, Timothy, Nicholas, Joshua and Harold III; a step-grandson, Sammy; an adopted daughter, Helen Dandois of Troy; a sister, Caroline of New Jersey, as well as many nieces and nephews.
