M. Cannon On Sad Mission Yes, We Forgot The management of the Shiner Creamery and Ice Maufacfcuring Company called at our sanctum in plenty of time for us to have carried their annual greeting to loyal customers and friends in the issue of Dec. 25rh but we forgot it.

The Scribbler was not Only ktiff from a fall on the ice but was among those who fell a victim to the achy grip and that particular edition was put over in feverish haste. We start the New Year with this apology and the greeting. We believe so far as veniences were concerned our community suffered less damage than any of our neighbors during the recent In some towns the electric light service was first to go out and business houses were forced to bring in candles and lamps for the convenience of their shoppers. Those newspapers that depended on electric juice for their presses were balled up some. Other towns were cut off entirely from telephone and telegraph communication with the outside world.

Bay City suffered a disastrous tire and the Tribune states that truck after truck of hides were arriving and the number of frozen cattle was so large, it was feared they could not be skinned fast enough to even save the hides for the slock owners. Celebration Postponed Kingsville, Dec. 29, 1924, Friends: Due to continued rains and inclement weather the committee in charge of the laying of the corner stone of the South Texas State Teachers College at Kingsville has decided to postpone those ceremonies to a date to be announced later, which date will not be later than February 14, 1924. Due notice of the date to be decided upon will be made through the press of the state and through your local paper. We hope that if you were ex pecting to be with us on January 3 you will find the date to be set will suit your convenience equally as well.

If you have found that you could not be here on the third, we hope you will find the date we shall announce later will pemit you to come to Kingsville, In either case we want to assure you that a warm welcome awaits you at the home of your college. This postponement does not in any way retard the construction of the building and we expect to open the institution next June with at least seven hundred students. Yours very truly, E. B. Erard Chm.
