Bakkerud said that its not generally known that Lewis Carroll, whose real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, was a clergyman, a mathematician, and lecturer at Oxford University, and an author of many books on algebra, geometry, trigonometry and Euclidian mathematics. The production of the Actors Repertory Theater, he added, will try to illuminate the authors scientific background by emphasizing the intelligence, wit and satire of what on the surface may seem a nonsense story. Bakkerud has adapted and will direct the production.

Colorful costumes required by more than 20 characters have been designed and constructed by Geri Heuring and Anne Atkins. An all-female cast of five will handle all roles. Heading the group will be Bonda Lewis as Alice. Jean Serlin of Saratoga will appear in a variety of roles, from Queen of Hearts to Mock Turtle to Mad Hatter. Also in the play will be Laurie Gamer of San Jose, Helen Neff of Santa Clara and Suzanne Payne of 2121 Williams SL, Palo Alto, a drama graduate of Texas Western College who has acted In i than 35 shows.
