Forty- five guests were present. DINNER GUESTS Mr. and Mrs. Webster Orton had as dinner guests Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Abernathy, Carol Jean and Diane, Mason City. Mrs. Abernathy is a sister of Mr. Orton. The daughter, Carol Jean, is leaving this week to begin her freshman year at York College, Nebr. - o HOSTS VISITORS Marie Grover had as dinner guests at Van's last Tuesday evening Col. and Mrs. Bernard W.'illace, San Antonio, Tex., Mr. and Mrs. Pat RasmnssenandMr. and Mrs. Harold Grover, Burt. Col. Wallace is a nephew of the late Dr. Wallace. LEGAL NOTICES WED 65 YEARS Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Steven observed their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 4 and a pot-luck dinner was held in the Methodist church dining room for the immediate relatives and a few friends. An interesting feature was a display of dolls dressed in the period of the various weddings and presented to the couples. A replica of the wedding garments of the honoree's was of great Interest. - o - CLUB MET Mrs. Edith Buchanan was hostess to her Idle Hour bridge club Sept. 7. -o - CLUB HOSTESS Mrs. Hazel Vera entertained - o - DAU REUNION A Oau family reunion was held Sunday at the floral hall with 62 persons in attendance. Some came from Minnesota, others were from various points in Iowa. - o - PLAYED CARDS Mrs, Twilla Bartholomew was hostess to her bridge club Thursday evening. - o - MRS. MYRA OSTRUM has rented her cottage on Harlan St. to Mr. and Mrs. Garold Hough. MR. AND MRS. Dick Beisell, Dave and Dan, have returned from a vacation at Duluth, Minn., the iron range at Virginia and at Pequot Lakes visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Spurlock, who lived here at one time. They were also in Minneapolis and attended Cinerama and some ball games. Soon after their return home, the sons went to Ft. Dodge to visit their maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sadler. MR. AND MRS. Forrest Twogood, Los Angeles, have returned home after a three week visit here with the latter's sister, Barbara Haggard. MR. AiND MRS. FredKenthave had as guests the former's brother, Jay and wife of Greenville, Miss. They were also at Mason City to visit Mrs. Kent's sister, Evalyn, Mrs. Wallace McDougall, and Mrs. JayTubbesing, whose late husband was a brother of Mrs. Kent and Mrs. McDougall. MRS. THEODORE HUTCHISON and grandchildren, Molly and Steve Carroll, left Tuesday for Sioux Falls, S. D., where they will take a plane to Torrence, Calif., where the parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Carroll live. It is possible she may go from there to San Jose and Los Angeles to visit relatives. BOEKELMAN', son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boekelman, 815 So. Harriet; Steven R. Eischen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eischen, R. R. -1; V/illiam P. Milder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jani2s M'lder, 309 E. Elm; have enrolled as freshmen at St. Benedict's College at Atchison, Kans. MR. AND MRS. Paul James had as guests their tw.) daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Makuuclii andJanr.e and Mrs. Ale.x Soroka. They will return to their homes Friday. A CALLER, Mrs. Ralph Diekoff, Madrid, was at the Good Samaritan Home last \veek to see Mrs. Boone. Mrs. Diekoff had been at Des Moines to attend the Iowa State Fair. WILFRED CARLSON has been here from Des Moines and visited his sisters, Ellen and Alma Carlson and Mrs. Olga Jordon. He was alpo at Swea City on business. MR. AND MRS. Walter Heerdt have been visited by Mrs. James Muller, Draper, S. D., from last Sunday till the following Wednesday. She is a sister of Mr. Heerdt. REV. AND MRS. BILLY Goodpasture have been visited by Mr. and Mrs. Randy Robinson and niece, Pamela Gibson, Indianapolis, Ind. MR. AND MRS. Warren Bowman recently took home their three year old grandson, Tommy, to Artichoke Lake, Minn., honi3 of his parents, Mr. and M-s. Harvey Steven. Tom my had been here during the sickness and surgery of his brother, William, 7. MR. AND MRS. Webster Orton and little daughter spent from Saturday till Tuesday in Des Moines. They were house guests of Mrs. Orion's brother and sister-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. Don Bentele and family and also visited Mr. and Mrs. Louis Burris, Mr. and Mrs.DonBlasky and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Neuhring. The last three couples have at various times been State Park custodians. MARIE GROVER has had as guests Col. and Mrs. Bernard Wallace, San Antonio, Tex. They spent the sum-ner in their trailer house at Park Rapids, Minn. Col. Wallace is now retired alter nearly 30 years of service. They spend the winters in Florida and summers at various northern Minnesota lakes. IT WAS brought to my attention that I had erred in saying Mr. and Mrs. Robert Derbyshire vacationed at Duluth, Minn., and ran into a bad rain storm. The parties involved were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dransfeldt. A call to gracious and understanding Mrs. Dransfeldt, and to courteous Mr. Darbyshire got things straightened out. MINNIE MEDIN had as callers last Wednesday Mrs. Phylena McConkey, nee Ferguson, of Reynolds, who was enroute to Spirit Lake to see a sick aunt.
