Mrs. Anna Wagner will be host- the following Wednesday. - o - KNIT AND SEW The Knit and Sew Club met Wednesday with Mrs. Clifford Skogstrom. BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. Mel Bay entertained her bridge club Monday. - o BAPTIST WOMEN Women of the First Baptist church will meet Sept. 1. Hostesses will be Mesdames Emma Medln, Mack Carlson and Nell Cook. Shirley Tietz will give the lesson. Women of Methodist W.S.C.S. will meet Sept. 1 for a one o'clock luncheon. Mrs. George Scuffham and Mrs. Stanley Gardner are chairman and co-chairman. Mrs. L. L. Rlter will give devotions and Phil Tayldr will give a talk on his sojourn in Brazil. - o- PICNIC SUPPER All the teachers of the Algona public school system met Friday evening at the Annex for a picnic supper and a get-acquainted meeting. From Algona were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Rike and Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Rike. - o - 87 YEARS YOUNG John Arndorfer's 87th birthday was celebrated Aug. 10 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lichter. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Goetz and Kathy of Wesley were also guests. - o- PLAN PICNIC Members of Rebekah lodge are going to Renwich Wednesday for a picnic supper at Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pools. - o- SHOWER HONOR Kendra Seely was the honoree at a misc. shower, Aug. 23, at the school in Whlttemore. Kendra was assisted in opening gifts by Maree Miller and Karen Seely. Hostesses for the courtesy were Mesdames Ervln Bruhn, Edwin Greinert, Wm. Ostwald, Gerald Ollom, Milton Espe, Forest Gilmore, Melvin Roeber, Lawrence Meyer and Rosella Voigt. Miss Seely was the honoree at a personal shower Aug. 24. Hostess was Mary Ann Sigsbee. Devotions, Mrs. Robert Richter, music, Mrs. Casey Loss. Circle D. serves. - o - MR. AND MRS. Ernest Georg and Dennis attended the funeral of Mrs. Georg*s mother at Albert City, Saturday. MR. AND MRS. Marvin Haack of LaPorte City are parents of a baby boy born Aug. 20, weight 9 Ibs., 4 oz., named Allen Lee. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Emil Haack of Lone Rock, and Mrs. Martha Haase of Burt is a great-grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Merville Howard of LaPorte City are the other grandparents. 566 Enroll At Swea City An enrollment of 566 greeted the opening of the fall semester in the Swea City public school system, including 60 new students from the west two-thirds of the old Grant district, and 19 tuition students from the balance of the Grant rural district. Two new classrooms have been provided by removing coat halls and installing lockers, and a new superintendent's office was provided. On Committee Paul Bernhard of Fenton has been named a member of the district two bowling committee for the Iowa Farm Bureau, a second-year appointment.
