She was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Sesser to Walter and Alta (Sulcer) Chambers. She married Charles Owens. She later married Carl Galant. Both preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Leon Baker of Herrin, William K. Owens of Palmdle, and Richard Owens of Christopher; one sister, Lana Wymer of Ocala, five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; Her parents and two brothers also preceded her in death. Walter Vemell Barwick Jenkins Lorie Webb in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Bell Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam after 6 p.m. Saturday at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home, and from 1 to 2 p.m.

Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the classrooms at school. Lorie was born Oct. 25, 1994, in Carbondale, and Andrea Phillip Eugene 'Gene' Zumwalt Sr. WEST FRANKFORT Phillip Eugene "Gene" Zumwalt 71, died Wednesday, Feb.

12, 2003, in his home. He was born Dec. 10, 1931, in St. Louis, to Percy Ray Zumwalt and Catherine (Thompson) Zumwalt. He married Linda G.

Barker on Aug. 18, 1982, in Camden, and she survives. He is also survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Michelle Ross and husband, Autumn of Orient, Mary and Jennifer Zumwalt of West Frankfrot, and Michelle C. Zumwalt of Missouri; a son, Phillip Zumwalt, of St. Louis, four grandchildren, Stephen and Robert of St.

Louis, Coy Smothers of West Frankfort, and Phoebe Ross of Orient; a sister, Marion Brittingham of Memphis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Gene enjoyed fishing, camping and cars. He was a very loving and kind father, grandfather and friend. It was his wish to have his body donated to science at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements. Cornelia Russell CARBONDALE Cornelia C. Russell, 91, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in St.

Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Sandy Springs Baptist Church in Pelzer, S.C, with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens in Greenville, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sandy Springs Baptist Church, 100 Snow Road, Pelzer, S.C. 29669.

Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of arrangements. Andrea Webb was born Oct. 2, 1996, in CARBONDALE Walter Vernell Barwick, 91, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Carbondale. Their parents are War.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Tamaroa and attended First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Fla. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, member of Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Masons and Shriners. He was born June 23, 1941, at Tamaroa, the son of Russell and Vera Mae (Laur) Bell Jr. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Elizabeth (McCann) Bell; one son, Steven Centore of New York; four daughters, Cherie Bell Twist and Melissa Bell, both of West Frankfort, and Deborah Bayliss and Teri Centore, both of Omaha, one sister, Doris June Klamm of Dubois; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Mr. Bell's wishes were to be cremated after the visitation.

Friends may make memorials to Du Quoin VFW, and the memorials that friends make will be accepted at the funeral home. Mark Webb of Sesser and Sherrie Webb of Ina. Both parents survive. Hume, 72, passed away at 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, Patsy Wright Feb. 12, 2003, at Herrin Hospital. DU QUOIN Patsy Wright, 40, of Du Quoin, formerly of Carbondale, passed away at 9:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at home. Evelyn Vanno Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the Goreville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeff Bealmear Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb.

15, at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with the Rev. Hume Feb. 13, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born April 17, 1911, in Hurricane, Williamson County, 111., to Sylvester and Erma (Barth) Barwick. He married Ruth Adams in Murphysboro on May 3, 1933.

She died March 5, 1985. Mr. Barwick had been a maintenance supervisor at the SIU physical plant until his retirement in 1976. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. He loved the church, and served as a deacon, usher, and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Barwick is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Ralph Gann of Lafayette, and two grandsons, Russell N. Gann of West Lafayette, and Scott A.

and spouse, Ashley Gann, of Columbia, S.C. He was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Baker, and five brothers, Victor, Virgil, Carl, Robert and Loren Barwick. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Huffman-Harker Funeral Home in Carbondale, with the Rev. Wes Henson officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, with full military rites. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Huffman-Harker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Walnut Street Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Gary Williams MOUNT VERNON Gary W.

Williams, 41, died at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Services will be at 1 p.m.

Saturday in Hughey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Gale Breeze and Donald Breeze officiating. Burial will be in Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a walk-through at 7:30 p.m.

Dexter was born on March 26, 1927, in Cambria to Joseph and Ines (Poston) Waldron. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific. Mr. Waldron was an automobile mechanic. He formerly worked in the coal mines and for the railroad.

He attended Crossroads Tabernacle Church in Hurst. He enjoyed farming, gardening and spending time telling stories with his buddies at the Dairy Queen. He would sell produce from his garden at the Farmers Market in Herrin when he was able. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rena Waldron of Bush; a daughter, Marlena Kincheloe of Collinsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Barry Cohrn of Green River, eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Joseph Waldron.

The service will be at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 14, 2003, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Sister Naomi Carter will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Herrin VFW and American Legion Posts.

Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at his residence. His wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb.

Mr. Olson was born on Aug. 9, 1963, in Chicago to Harry and Gale (Beecher) Olson. He married Rebecca Olson, and she survives. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and David Studer of Herrin; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jason and Lori Olson, Clayton and Stacy Olson, and Samuel and Angela Olson, all of Marion; father and stepmother, Harry and Deborah Olson of Marion; loving grandmother, Eolis Jones; loving nieces and nephews, Stepheney Studer, Austin and Madison Olson, Alexandria Olson, Matalin and Laney Olson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry Olson, Frank Beecher, Bill Jones and Doris Beecher. Eric was a loyal Chicago sports fan and an avid bowler. Iva Pearl Mansker SPARTA Iva Pearl Mansker, 102, died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in St.

Ann's Healthcare Center in Chester. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in McDaniel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Corun officiating. Burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Mrs. Mansker was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and past president of both Pithians Sister and the Rebecca Lodge. She was born Jan. 19, 1901, in Annapolis, to Leslie and Dolly Mae (Brandon) Dunn. She married Bernard "Bernie" Mansker on May 22, 1917, in Delose, Mo. He died Nov.

25, 1961. Survivors includes two daughters, Melda Jung of Sparta and Wanda Schnoeker of Steeleville; two sons, Paul and Howard Mansker, both of Sparta; 15 granchildren; and numerous greatgrandchildren. Her parents, one daughter, Charlotte Marie, one son, Herman, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson, Duke Mansker, also preceded her in death. MARION Evelyn Vanno, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Arrangements are incomplete at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Jacquelynn Brumley CARBONDALE Jacquelynn Brumley, 46, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Jenkins was born on March 1, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Harold E. and Gladys Fern (Berkhead) Shattuck. She married Jesse Jenkins on May 27, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, and he preceded her in death on Jan.

21, 1994. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Wendell Fisher of Marion; two sons and daughters-in-law, George Raymond and Carol Jenkins of Sarasota, and Richard Lee and Pat Jenkins of St. Louis, grandchildren, Terri Wiseman, Shara Sprague, David W. Fisher, Cindy Pool, Kenny Jenkins, Daniel Jenkins, and Angela Jenkins; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Butler of Horseheads, N.Y.; and stepsister, Harriet Montalvo of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one stepbrother.

Mrs. Jenkins was a member of the First Church of God in Marion. She was a homemaker, and an Avon sales representative for many years. Anton C. Thomann BENTON Anton C.

Thomann, 88, of 303 W. Fifth died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Casey Care Center, Mount Vernon. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday, Feb. 15, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Steve Poole officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Masonic Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m.

Saturday at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton. Mr. Thomann was born Aug. 20, 1914, in St. Louis, the son of Anthony and Louise (Weingaertner) Thomann.

He married the former Roberta Webb McAfoos on Jan. 15, 1949, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1972. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of St.

Joseph Catholic Church, Benton. Following World War II, Anton moved to Centralia, III. and become a partner in the family Nash car dealership. In 1954 he and his wife, Roberta, moved to Benton and operated Thomann's Garage with his father and brother. He retired in the early 1990s and sold his garage in 1999 to the city of Benton, who transformed it into the Franklin County Garage Museum.

He is survived by two daughters, Jan and husband, Darrell Compton of Benton, and Diana and husband, David Burlison, of Dallas, three grandchildren, Stephen and wife, Tracy Burlison, of Columbia, S.C., Ryan Burlison and fiancee, Paula Miles, of Columbia, S.C, and Michael Compton and fiancee, Karen Bohn, of Sarasota, two brothers, Albert and wife, Mary Beth Thomann, of Danville, and William and wife, Mary Ann Thomann, of Columbia, two sisters-in-law, Katherine Thomann of Benton and Ruth Thomann of Englewood, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Thomann was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Henry and Carl Thomann, and one sister, Agnes Wagner. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Franklin County Garage Museum and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Mr. Hume was born in Ottawa on Dec. 12, 1930, to Millard and Gertrude (Churchill) Hume. He married Ruth Walker on June 16, 1984, in Goreville, and she survives. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Janice Hume and Randy McCabe; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Sumerland and Mathew Williams; stepson, Michael and Sharon Walker of Goreville; stepdaughter, Marlene Walker and Tom Gagnon ofChampaign; grandchildren, Emily, Wesley and Nora McCabe, and Chloe Summerland; stepgrandchildren, Micki Beth and Raleigh Walker; brother, David Hume of Bloomington; sister, Martha Jahnke of Normal; and one niece, Amber Jahnke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gene Hume, and sister, Joan Jahnke. Mr. Hume was a retired electrical engineer. He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking and collecting antique clocks. He served his country in the U.S.

Navy and Air Force during the Korean conflict. Wayne Lee SPARTA Wayne B. Lee, 76, died at 7:52 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Missouri Baptist Hospital in St.

Louis. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the United Methodist Church in New Palestine, with the Revs. Marvin Bennett and Phil Willison officiating. Burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at McDaniel Funeral Home, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or the American Lung Association. Danny Boyd officiating.

Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory, Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the funeral home.

Patsy was born Nov. 19, 1962, in Carbondale to Billy Deon and Evelyn Berniece (Lipe) Wright. She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Erika Jack of Herrin and Kevin Jack of Marion; one daughter Amber Marie Jack of Marion; her mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Darrel Oestreicher of Mulkeytown; two brothers, Billy Wright of Herrin and Rory Wright of Carbondale; two sisters, Sara Jones of Du Quoin and Cindy Fleming of Carterville; grandmother, Bertha Hartsock of Centralia; and nine nieces and nephews.

Patsy was a kind, loving and giving individual. She was a fun, loving mother who was especially proud of her children. Her hobbies included playing bingo, baking and quilting. Patsy was known for her generosity of making beautiful quilts and giving them away as presents. She was an avid NASCAR fan.

Before moving to Du Quoin two years ago, she was a resident of Makanda. "We love you mom." Lucille Ware DU QUOIN Lucile Nicholson Ware, 85, died at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Fairview Nursing Center. Services will be at 3 p.m.

Sunday in Mount Olive Methodist Church in Ovett, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a brief service by the Revs. Jerry Dunn and Bob Dickerson. Memorials may be made to Mount Olive Methodist Church, Route 1, Box 185, Ovett, MS 39464.
