Roy Llgetenberg, were chosen valedictorian and salutatorlan respectively of the Class of 1958 of Corsica high school. In addition to her scholastic work, Miss Star had four years as a majorette of the band, four years In glee chib and mixed chorus. In her senior year she reigned as both homecoming and carnival queen and had a lead In both jtuUon and senior plays. She was also a cheerleader, a member of the annual and paper staff and a member of the all-state chorus. Llgtenberg lettered In basketball for three years, was In mixed chorus and boys glee club, member of the class play as a junior arid senior.

Me won first place In the geometry division In the USD math contest and attended Boys State. He was named the outstanding junior and was soloist In the music contest, a member of vocal groups and vice president of his class. Methodist Church At Scotland Elects Officers By Republic News Service SCOTLAND Officers of the Scotland Methodist church were elected for the coming year at a recent meeting. Glen Clough was named as lay reader. Kenneth Ireland was named chairman of commission of stewardship and finance.

Mrs. Ken Ireland was named chairman oi commission on missions. Mrs. Clifford Davis was named chairman of the commission on education and re elected Sunday School superintendent. Mrs.

Alberl Wold was named communion ste ward; Clint Case was named financial secretary. Ray Englehorn was named as delegate to the annual conference to be held at Spearfish. Gerald Smith was named chairman of the music committee; Mrs. Morris Gran and Mrs. Roy Slupe were elected for three years on the nominating committee.

Oriental Theme Setting For Artesian Banauel By Republic News Service ARTESIAN An oriental theme was used for the Artesian high school junior-senior banquet which was held at the Lawler Hotel in Mitchell.

Barbara Olson was mistress of ceremonies. Pat Clark gave the welcome and the response was given by Rodney Hall. Jean Looby, Doris Shoemaker, Eleanor Dean and Barbara Olson provided vocal music. Named Delmont Valedictorian Present Awards At Scotland HS Class Night By Republic News Service SCOTLAND Members of all! classes were Honored at the an-) nual Scotland high school class' night program held on May 13 The seniors presented their program with the theme, "Rainbow's End," with Joseph Schmidt as master of ceremonies. The class, history, class poem, class will, prophecy and class song were presented on the program.

Sylvia Anderson gave the valedictory and Judith Ireland gave the salutatory and were presented medals. The freshman scholastic cup was awarded to Marilyn Eber- foardt. The other awards presented included the following: natural science Henry Wlnckler; yearbook editor award Carol Eberhardt; Bagpipe editor award Kay Wieters; athletic award Duane Bierle; English award Sylvia Anderson: Gold Memorial scholarship award Sylvia Anderson: band and vocal music awards Lonn Swett; Danforth awards- Carl Neumeister and Judith Ireland; DAR awards Carol Eberhardt; social science award Carol Maruska. Library awards were presented to eight students. Seven were honored with declamation' awards and debate awards were presented to four on the A debate squad and eight on the squad.

Vonnie Magstadt won the NFL award. Twelve seniors were presented vocal Awards, twenty four juniors, nineteen sophomores and twenty one freshmen. Ten seniors won four year band awards and two received three-year awards. Twenty one Junior band awards were presented, along with seven sophomore and six freshman awards. The DeKalb outstanding senior agriculture award was presented Robert Nelson.

The FHA Foundation Award was presented to jloyd Sorlein. The FFA award for ipeech went to Lynn Englehorn and 18 members received judging awards. In athletics, Duane Bierle won he most valuable award. Alien tlemme, Robert Radamacher, Jos- jph Schmidt, Henry Winkler, Leignon Gall and Rodney Burke received awards along with a large group of other players. Lelcher's Top Seniors Named Jerry Wild, eon of the Rev.

and Mrs. J. A. Wild, was named valedictorian of he Class of 1958 of Delmonl high school. He was active in band, glee club and mixed chorus and was a vocal and instrumental soloist.

He was active in athletics In both basketball and football and was a member of the student council, delegate to Boy's State and won the award of "Ail-Around Student" and the winner of the "Ail-Around music award. Bridgewater School Pupils Give Program By Republic News Service BRIDGEWATER Pupils of the sixth, seventh and eighth grades of St. Stephen's Catholic school here presented a musical program dedicated to mothers on Friday, May 9.

Home EC Class Of Tyndall HS Visits Hospital By Republic News Service TYNDALL Members of the Home EC II class of Tyndall high school recently enjoyed a tour recently of St. Michael's hospital here. The students were shown rooms, wards as well as supply room operating room, x-ray department, laboratory and the pediatric ward. Supt.

Harold Settje announces that only one vacancy exists in the teaching staff at Scotland high school. He announced that Rosalie Herman of Tabor has been hired as he fifth grade teacher for the coming year.

She received her training at Southern State Teachers College and has been teaching rural school. Carol Schurmans of Tyndall has signed her contract to teach the sixth grade and Jeanette Geigel will teach the sixth grade and will have charge of the grade school music program. The vacancy still be to be filled in the high school faculty that is for an English and debate instructor. She gave the welcome which was responded to by Byron Brand. Elaine Hneto gave the class history and Doris Oorlog read the class will. Ronald Oorlog gave the class prophecy. A piano selection was presented by Sherilyn Pier. Kenneth Voigt gave a baritone horn solo.

A pano solo was given by Sharon Bertus and a skit was presented by Shirley Johnson and Kenneth Powers and another skit by Merlyn Schuh and Robert Welns. The evening's program concluded with remarks by Supt. L. N. Pier.
