Border, 57, of Benton, formerly of West Frankfort, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at her residence. Anthony Christian Ton Tuma ZEIGLER Anthony Christian "Tony" Tuma, 53, of Zeigler, died at 2:56 p.m.

Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Herrin Hospital. MARION William Ryan "Billy" Taylor, 24, of Marion passed away at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, in his residence after a long illness. Billy will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements.

Billy was born on Feb. 11, 1981, in Benton, to William D. and Maxine (Sutton) Taylor. Survivors include his sister, Becky and Greg McDonald of Marion; brother, Darren and Wendy Taylor of Johnston City; grandmother, Betty Kelton of Marion; nephews, Colton McDonald of Marion, Dustin Chitty of Johnston City; nieces, Lisa Chitty of Johnston City, Amanda Chitty of West Frankfort; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also survived by some very special loving people in his life.

Mary Espy, Donna Lynn, Betsy Lowry, Pam Girdner, Sherry Duncan, Advantage Nursing and many more over the last 13 years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loren and Marguerite Sutton; grandfather, Sam Kelton; and uncle, Carl Kelton all from Marion. Kapraun MULKEYTOWN Virginia L. Kapraun, 66, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with the Rev.

Kurt Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Ms.

Kapraun was retired from MUMS. She was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Mulkeytown, to Loren Ramsey and Grace Moyers. Survivors include, three sons, Edward S. Hoskins of Crockett, Texas, Gary L.

Hoskins, and Marty Dee Followell both of Mulkeytown; two sisters, Ethna "Shorty" Stuart of Mulkeytown, and Lucille Dornan of Peoria; and one brother, Stan Ramsey of Mulkeytown. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers. Robert 'Bob' Skaggs CAIRO Services for Robert "Bob" Skaggs, 73, of Wickliffe, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Wickliffe, with Bill Polley officiating. Burial site will be in LaCenter Cemetery.

Bob died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. A native of Cairo, he worked in the marine industry for more than 55 years. Bob began his adventure in life as a deckhand on a towboat and moved himself up the ladder as vice president of Cairo Marine Service. He established his own company in 1981 and was still active with Skaggs Marine Service until he started his new adventure in heaven.

He was the president of Paducah Retired Riverman's Association. He was past vice president of the Ohio Valley Regional National Propeller Club and past president of the Paducah Propeller Club. Bob was active in many organizations in the area. Bob has left behind many loved ones including his wife, Carole Skaggs; his son, Gary Skaggs of Gilbertsville, two daughters, Sandra Craddock of Evansville, and Sue Davis of Marion; two brothers, Phillip Skaggs of Chester, and Michael Skaggs of Sikeston, and one sister, Billie Jean Frazee of St. Louis.

There are many grandchildren who love their grandpa very much including, Brandon Skaggs, Justin Terry, Jessica Davis, Michael Davis, Marti Davis, Celinea Skaggs, River Skaggs, and Kalin Craddock. He has three wonderful stepgrandchildren, Jamie and Laura Craddock and Ashley Wilson. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ray and Robbie E. Skaggs of Cairo. In lieu of flowers, donations can.

Chaney BENTON Carl D. Chaney, 82, of Benton, died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis. For the last five years, Mr.

Chaney had been residing in Villa Ridge, Mo. Mr. Chaney was born in Benton, Dec. 23, 1922, the son of John and Myrtle (Beltz) Chaney. He married Marcella Kwiatkowski, Jan.

17, 1948, in Detroit, Mich. She preceded him in death. Carl Doyle Chaney served in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge on Jan. 19, 1946.

He loved his family and his country. He was a retired UMWA coal miner and avid fisherman. Surviving are one daughter, Cindy Rumsey of Villa Ridge, one son, Gary Chaney and wife, Cathy of Du Quoin; three grandchildren, Tina Matheis and husband, Rob of High Ridge, Chris Rumsey of Villa Ridge, and Brad Chaney of O'Fallon; two great-grandsons, Nicolas and Trent Matheis of High Ridge, three stepgrandchildren, Joshuah Lemons and wife, Amanda, and Justin and Jamie Lemons; two great-stepgrandsons, Paxton Higgerson and Cameron Lemons, all of Du Quoin; one brother Clarence Chaney and wife Donna of Imalay City, one sister, Johnie Mae Dallape of Eldorado; and several nieces and nephews. Carl was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and an infant son. Services will be at 2 p.m.

today in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with American Legion's National Chaplain, Jackie Davison officiating. Burial will be in Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton, with a full military service conducted. Visitation was yesterday. Eddie Brown CAIRO Eddie Brown, 75, died Friday, July 8, 2005, in St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Arrangements are incomplete in Heavenly Gates Funeral Home in Cairo. PAULTON Donna Norris Carlson, 56, of O'Fallon, formerly of Paulton, passed away at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, at her home in O'Fallon. Donna was born Oct. 6, 1948, to Clyde and Virginia (Buhl) Norris in Paulton.

She married Jack "Ed" Carlson on Feb. 14, 1975, in Paulton and together they have shared more than 30 years of marriage. Donna was a retired telephone operator, after retirement she began working at Gordman's in O'Fallon. She attended First Baptist Church in O'Fallon and was a member (Communications Workers of America). Donna is survived by, her husband, Ed of O'Fallon, eight brothers and their spouses, Grant and Thelma Norris of Benton, Bob and Jane Norris of Benton, Jerry and Yvonne Norris of Crab Orchard, Harvey and Karen Norris of Marion, Danny and Linda Norris of Sulligent, Rex and Annabelle Norris of Johnston City, Marvin Norris of Johnston City, and Albert Norris of Marion; special niece, Lisa Norris of Chesterfield, special nephew, Dave Norris of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, and brother, Jackie Don Norris. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

-v sons DU QUOIN Richard G. Valier, 69, of Du Quoin, at passed away at 12:10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, at his residence. Richard worked at Du Quoin Packing House and also as a coal miner at McLeansboro Mine. He was a member of Du Quoin Church of Christ.

He was a U.S. Army veteran during peace time. He was born Nov. 9, 1935, in Perry County, the son of Floyd A. and Mary E.

(Marlow) Valier. He married Janice E. Flatt Feb. 3, 1961, in Christopher, and she survives. He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; one son, Barry Valier and wife, Vanessa of Du Quoin; one daughter, Mina Fielek and husband, John of Gravette, four grandchildren, Baillie Valier, Rhett Valier, Joel Fielek and Thomas Fielek; one brother, Stanley F.

Valier of Du Quoin; three sisters, Mary Jane Lee, Frances Milam and Ruth Ann Farmer, all of Du Quoin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Margery Prior and brother-in-law, Gene Prior. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with Brothers Wayne Dinkins and George Marshall officiating. Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m.

Larry Leon Reeves PULASKI Larry Leon Reeves, 64, of Pulaski, died at 11:52 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2005, in John Cochran Veterans Medical Center in St.

Louis. Mr. Reeves was born Feb. 25, 1941, in Mounds, the son of Carl Franklin Reeves and Muriel Janet "Mermie" (Palmer) Reeves. Reeves Mr.

Reeves was a member of Pulaski Christian Church, an Army veteran, and was a PBX truck driver for 25 years. Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his father, Carl F. Reeves, May 4, 1988, and by a sister, Carolyn Sue Jones, Aug. 6, 1980.

Survivors include his mother, Mermie Reeves of Pulaski; two sons, William Carl Reeves of Hermitage, and James Blaine Reeves of Pulaski; brother, David Keith Reeves of St. Louis; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Services for Larry L. Reeves will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Pulaski Christian Church, with Brother Wiley D.

Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski, with full military honors given by members of Pulaski County VFW Post 8891 of Mounds. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, and then from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour Sunday at the church.

Tammie Cummins HARRISBURG Tammie Cummins, 47, died at 7:43 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, with the Revs. Dewayne Taylor and Steve Dunn officiating.

Burial will be in Dutton Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Tony was born Sept. 14, 1951, in Chicago, to Richard and Nellie (Singer) Tuma.

He was preceded in death by his father when Tuma he was 4 years old and was raised and is survived by his mother and second father, Nellie and Lloyd "Buddy" Weston of Zeigler. He is also survived by a son, Anthony Christian Tuma II of Zeigler; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and James Hubbard of West Frankfort; two grandchildren, Lacie Jo and Kailey Hubbard of West Frankfort; a sister and brother-in-law, Kitty and Doug Hitt of Stiritz; and three brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Duane Weston and Bill and Ronda Weston, all of Zeigler, also several loving nieces and nephews. Tony was a graduate of Zeigler-Royalton High School and Rend Lake College. He last worked as an installer for Aduddell Distributing and Circle A. Leasing Company in Zeigler.

He was a member of Eagles Lodge and American Legion in Zeigler. It was Tony's wishes to be cremated. There will be no public visitation. A family memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, at the family cabin on Benton Lake.

Juanita Schleifer SPARTA" Juanita "Kate" Schleifer, 81, of Baldwin, died at 8:06 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Randolph County Care Center in Sparta. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin, with Pastor Leroy Eckert officiating.

Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Sparta and then from 8 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Christ Our Savior Lutheran School or the Alzheimer's Foundations. Betty Russell CENTRALIA Betty Russell, 81, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, in St. Mary's Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Richview Cemetery.

Friends are asked to join the family directly at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Richview Cemetery and will be accepted at Styninger-Pacey Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. Family Tre GARDCN CENTER lVK 1 She was born July 21, 1947, in West Frankfort, to Roy E. Patton and Dorothy M. (Sloan) Patton.

She married John H. Border July 24, 1992, in Border West Frankfort and he survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Leigh Walen and husband, Gerard of Sarasota, Kathleen Dial and husband Matt of Clermont, Kristine Cordts and husband Scott of Sparta; six grandchildren, Hannah and Seth Dial, Julia, Isaac, and Charlotte Cordts, and Grace Walen; two stepdaughters, Cathy Terry and husband, Chris of Thompsonville, Connie Tygett and husband, Tim of Herrin; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jayne was a member of Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort.

She taught Sunday school for 30 years and sang in the church choir. She received her masters in education from Southern Illinois University July 2, 2005. She taught foreign languages and English at Frankfort Community High School. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, in Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort, with the Rev.

Brett Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Whittington. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Parker Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Jacqueline Payne BONNIE Jacqueline Payne, 66, of Bonnie, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Mount Vernon Countryside Manor. She was born in Ina, March 12, 1939, the daughter of Howard and Eula (Chesney) Fitzgerrell. Jackie is survived by three sons, Richard Douglas Morgan and wife, Brenda of Mount Vernon, Robert Daniel Morgan Sr.

and wife, Kay of Bonnie, and Matthew Damon Carpenter of wife Sandra of Biltmore Lake, N.C.; one daughter, Kristen Danyiel Carpenter of Louisville; one brother, Howard Richard "Dickey" Fitzgerrell of Winter Park, one sister, Connie Moore and husband Terry of Bonnie; sister-in-law, Linda Sue Fitzgerrell of Orlando, stepfather, Harry Book and wife Millie of Bonnie; four grandchildren, Robert Daniel Morgan Jr. of Linden, Chrissy Suzanne Johnston of Ina, Cross Alexander Carpenter of Biltmore Lake, N.C., and Cais Arrington Carpenter of Biltmore Lake, N.C.; four stepgrandchildren, Amanda and Jason Kramm of Bonnie, and Nicholas and Kelly Miller of Centralia; nephew, Jeff Moore and wife, Karen and sons, Derek and Dalton of Bonnie; and niece, Marsha Jones and husband, Eric and sons, Evan, Garret, and Cole of Lutz, Fla.
