A volunteer counselor is on duty at the office in the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The chapter covers 28 counties and has a client counseling goal of 65 cases. The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a major supporter of the chapter. It assists with office service and financing and opens its conferences and workshops to counselors.

A mini-library located in the SCORE office provides reference materials for counselors and clients, including SBA small business development publications and profiles covering a wide array of businesses on-hand or can be downloaded in the office. The Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center maintains a library for public access. The SBDC also maintains a library for counselors' reference. BY BRUCE DAVIS, SCORE FOR THE SOUTHERN Service Corps of Retired Executives is a volunteer organization of retired business men and women who provide free counseling to business operators and those interested in starting a business. More than 12,000 volunteers comprise some 400 chapters nationwide. The Southern Illinois SCORE Chapter is located in the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center (formerly the Small Business Incubator). Volunteers are the sole providers of the counseling and administrative operations of the chapter. Members are asked to take turns staffing the office.

Membership meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month (except July) from 9:30 to 11 a.m. There are currently 13 active volunteerscounselors in the local chapter. The program matches a small business that wants help to an experienced and trained volunteer. The local SCORE chapter volunteers share their expertise with present and prospective ownersmanagers or small businesses. Volunteers keep all counsel confidential.

PERRY COUNTY FELONIES FILED July 16 Amber R. Roberts, 1 8, of 530 S. Walnut, Tamaroa, was charged with obstructing justice and was incarcerated in the Perry County Jail in lieu of $500 bond. July 18 David A. Shockley, of 3rd St, Box 6, Cutler, charged with armed violence and two counts of aggravated battery.

Bond was set at $5000. UNION COUNTY FELONY DISPOSITIONS July 9 Allen F. Morgan of P.O. Box 56, Olmsted, pled guilty to driving while license revoked. Probation for a period of 18 months, $500 fine and credit for 27 days time served in county jail.

FELONY DISPOSITIONS July 1 Jeff S. Armentrout, 2301 S. Illinois Ave, Carbondale was charged with fraud. Charges were dismissed. Thomas R.

Hickey, 305 West 1 1th St, Johnston City was charged with failure to register as a sex offender. Charges were dismissed. Jerry D. Gass, 10038 Freeman Spur Blacktop, West Frankfort was charged with battery. Charge reduced to misdemeanor.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months probation. Restitution to be determined at later date. He was ordered to serve 3 consecutive days in the Williamson County Jail. Received credit for time served. He is to complete FVIP.

Leon Moore, 325 Phemister Road, Carbondale was charged with first degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering the life or health of a child. Charges 1 2 dismissed. On the endangering charge he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 months probation. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and surcharges. He is not to be left alone with a child under 1 3 years old.

July 3 Ray Randall, 202 E. Boulevard Apt. 2, Marion was charged with attempt (disarming a peace officer, and 2 counts battery. The attempt charge was dismissed. On the 2 counts of battery he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 24 months probation.

He was ordered to pay a $250 fine plus costs and surcharges. Plus was ordered to get a mental health assessment and comply with any treatment recommended. He shall have no contact with victim. Jonathan S. Thetford, 1 3022 Strunk Ave, Whiteash was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing chemical and unlawful manufacture of controlled substance.

The unlawful possession charge was dismissed. On the unlawful manufacture of controlled substance he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to imprisonment for 7 years in Menard Correctional Center. He was ordered born on June 26, 1927 in Cambria to Albert Chunky and Opal (Gillespie) Williams. She married Rex Baxter on May 19, 1945 Baxter in Carterville. She is survived by her husband Rex Baxter of Carterville; daughter Cheryl Baxter of Carterville; granddaughter Cara Baxter of Carterville; sister Opal Marie Davis of Chesterfield, Mo.

Wannie was preceded in death by her parents. Wannie worked for the Southern Illinoisan Newspaper for 25 years, delivering newspapers throughout the Carterville area. She had also worked at Sangamon Electric Company for 14 years. She was baptized at the Crainville Baptist Church. She attended the New Beginnings Church in Cambria.

She enjoyed crocheting and donated 104 hand made blankets to the Carterville Food Pantry. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Gary Brown officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Carl Rogers CORINTH Carl "Coke" Rogers, 84 of Elgin, passed away at 10:12 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with Reverend David Turner officiating. Burial will be at Coal Bank Springs in Corinth.

Visitation will befrom 9 to 11a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at the funeral home. Mr. Rogers was born on December 29, 1917 in Corinth, Rhode and Pearl (Smith) Rogers. He married Clara Tanner-Jones. Survivors include his wife, Clara Rogers of Elgin; stepsons and wives, Ronald and Bonnie Jones of Roselle, George and Yvonne Jones of Elgin, and Lewis Jones, Jr.

of Pittsburg; five grandchildren; four nieces; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ronald Rogers and Carl Eugene Rogers; and two brothers. Mr. Rogers retired from Elgin Machine Works where he worked as a machinist. He served in the Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War in Germany.

Golda Erwin MCLEANSBORO Golda Pearl (Wallace) Erwin, 89, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, at the Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with Revs. Garland Burris and Russell Monroe officiating.

Mills RIDGWAY James M. Mills, 75, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at New Harmony Health Care in New Harmony, Ind. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the St.

McLeansboro, IL 62859. Carolyn was born February 18, 1952 in Christopher to Everett and Geri (McKown) Lasley. She married Jerrells Danny Jerrells February 7, 1970 in Zeigler. He survives in Zeigler. Other survivors include a daughter, Yalonda McVicker of Zeigler; a son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Heather Jerrells of Goreville; her mother and step father, Geri and Arthur Jovi of Hanes City, Florida; three grandchildren, Blake and Logan Jerrells of Goreville and Lexie McVicker of Zeigler.

Her father, Everett Lasley preceded her in death in 1996. Carolyn was a member of the Zeigler First Baptist Church and a homemaker. Funeral services for Mrs. Jerrells will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler with Reverend Jerry Ford and Brother John Arvai officiating. Burial will be at Zeigler Cemetery.

Visiting hours are after 9:30 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home until the hour of the services. Wanda J. Supancic WEST FRANKFORT Wanda J. Supancic, 79, died at 5:43 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at St.

Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mrs. Supancic was born in Parrish on February, 28, 1923, the daughter of Ranold and Delia (Johns) Davis. Mrs. Supancic married Buddie Supancic on July 8 1941.

She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a son, Randy Supancic of Bloomfield, two daughters, LaDonna Supancic of West Frankfort and Carol Turner of West Frankfort; three grandsons, Greg Supancic of Mountain Grove, Rick Supancic and wife Lisa of Lynchberg, and Mike Supancic and wife Sandy of Cabool, three sisters, Bernice Fields of Aurora, 111., Fern Ellebrecht of Florissant, and Mary Jo McClerren of Aurora, six great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant granddaughter, Lisa Rust, and brother James Arthur Davis. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Stone Funeral Home Chapel in West Frankfort, with the Rev.

Ann Maria Summers BENTON Ann Maria (Parker) Summers, 27, died at 8:03 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, at her home. Ann was born June 22, 1975 in Benton, the daughter of Roy A. and Louise (Norcross) Parker. Ann attended St.

Joseph Catholic Church in Benton. She is survived by her husband Dan Summers of Thompsonville, parents, Roy A. and Louise Parker of Benton; a brother, Allen Parker and wife Melissa of Benton; a nephew, Clinton; niece Ciera; aunts and uncles, Dennis Parker and wife Kathy of Benton, Shalyn Settlemoir and husband Curtis of Benton, Donna O'Brien and husband Dennis of St. Joseph, Jim Norcross and wife Linda of Hastings, Neb. Ann was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Parker Webb and grandparents, Walter and Emily Norcross and Roy L.

Poe on January 3, 1942, in St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2000. Before her marriage to Clifford, she worked at the Perry County Courthouse and later worked with her husband as an office manager for Pinckneyville Plumbing and Heating. She was a member of the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville and enjoyed making quilts for her family and the church.

She is survived by three daughters, Angela DeLoach of Warner Robbins, Marilyn Craig and husband Minor of Coulterville and Janet Hampton and husband John of Grafton; five sons, Roger Poe and wife Betsy of Alpharetta, George Poe and wife Nancy of Mount Morris, Donald Poe and wife Bilin of Duluth, Bruce Poe and wife Beth of Hamilton, and Mike Poe and wife Carol of Pinckneyville; three sisters, Christina Elkins of Pinckneyville, Florence Eisfeder of Pinckneyville and Marcella Fontana of Du Quoin; 26 grandchildren and four great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a granddaughter, Sharon Craig, a son-in-law; Bob DeLoach and three brothers; Herman Epplin, John Epplin and Jacob Epplin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30 at the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, with Father John Venegoni officiating.

Durham was born on April 24, 1928, in Goreville, to Brad and Ethel (Hudgens) Durham. He married Mary Lou Lawrence on April 24, 1949, in Piggott, Ark. and she survives. Other survivors include granddaughter and her husband, Ronda and Lee Kaufman of White, great grandchildren, Nicholas and Dillon Rice; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sherry Durham of Goreville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Hinkley; two sisters, Emma Wilkins and Myrtle Dean Lowrance; and three brothers, Ward, Victor and Bobby Joe Durham.

Mr. Durham was of the Pentecostal faith. He worked as a car salesman, retiring after 40 years, having worked for Bob Harper Ford and Jim Pearl. He also worked as a bus driver for Goreville Schools for 27 years and he had previously served as Goreville Village Treasurer. Gilbert J.

State moved to dismiss per filed under wrong name. to pay a $2,000 assessment fine, a $1,500 street value fine and a $100 lab fee. He will receive 2 years mandatory supervised release. Dewayne Lyerla, 526 Junction Falls Road, Creal Springs was charged with theft. Nolle Prosequi. July 9 Bryan C. Baker, 404 E. Jefferson, Marion was charged with unlawful transportation of anhydrous ammonia.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to serve 5 years imprisonment with the sentence now serving from White County with 1 year mandatory supervised release. It is further ordered that the defendant be taken from the bar of this court to the common jail of said County and from there be taken to Menard Correctional Center. He received 27 days jail time credit. Gary E. Atchley, 304 N.

19th St, Herrin was charged with aggravated battery, resisting a peace officer and retail theft. The aggravated battery charge was dismissed. The other 2 charges were reduced to misdemeanors. He pleaded guilty on both resisting and retail charge and was sentenced to 12 months conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay a $250 fine plus costs and surcharges.

Otis R. Jones, 612 Herbert, Mt. Vernon was charged with aggravated battery and resisting a peace officer. The battery charge was dismissed. On the resisting a peace officer charge he was found guilty and was placed on sentence of conviction.

He was ordered to serve 94 days in the Williamson County Jail. Received credit for 94 days served. July 10 Richard A. Phelps, 808 North Highland, Marion was charged with robbery and battery. The robbery charge was dismissed.

The battery charge was reduced to misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty and was placed on sentence of conviction. He was ordered to pay costs only. Michael L. Moore, 200 E.

Thorn, Marion was charged with unlawful transportation of anhydrous ammonia and unlawful tampering with anhydrous ammonia equipment. Count 1 was dismissed. The tampering charge was reduced to misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay a $350 fine plus costs and surcharges.

He is to serve 30 consecutive days in the Williamson County Jail. Michael W. Borcky, 14559 Cundiff Road, Carterville was charged with theft. He was found guilty and was sentenced to 24 months probation. He was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs and surcharges.
