Algond, (la.) Upper Des Moines Tuesday, August 9, 1966 Algonan At I.S.U. Event Forty-two high school students participated in the two-week program of the Junior Engineering Technical Society on the Iowa State University campus, July 24 - Aug. 6. The program gives youths a close look at science and engineering activities at the University to assist them in planning their careers. Shown with equipment used for tensile and compressive strength tests in the University's ceramic engineering department are, left to right, Mark G. Andrews, Clarence; Richard C. Two Algona Women Attend Convention The Lutheran Women's Missionary League's 12th Biennial Convention was held at the Walther League camp on Lake Okoboji August 1-3. The Lutheran Women's Missionary League is the women's organization of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, with societies throughout the United States and Canada. In keeping with the basic missionary character of the organization, Rev. and Mrs. Walter E. Dorre, veteran missionaries in Brazil, told of challenges confronting the church In other lands. Delegates were from 176 societies in western Iowa, representing nearly 8,000 members. Suggested projects include financial assistance to a number of mission congregations within the district, scholarships for ministerial students and aid for orphanges and homes for the aged. The sessions were presided over by the district president, Mrs. Waldemar Fegebank. Mrs. Henry Tuchenhagen, Schribner, Nebr., represented the mother organization. International pastoral advisor, Rev. John Zimmerman, Eldora, will conduct a Christian Growth workshop in the skills of personal mission work. Area REC Is Recipient Of $160,000 Loan A $160,000 loan to the Humboldt County Rural Electric Cooperative has teen announced by Iowa's 6th District Congressman, Stanley L. Greigg. The loan will be used to finance one mile of distribution line for ten new customers and to underwrite improvements to the existing system, including 4 miles of new tie line, and conversion of 24 miles of existing line and relating facilities. The Humboldt R. E. C. serves customers in Humboldt, Kossuth, Pocahontas and Webster counties. Eugene Drager of Algona is president of the Cooperative.
