and Mrs. John Fraser expect to move this weekend to their new home on West Main Street. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Messer of St.

W. P. Tomson of Tulsa, Okla. is visiting at the home of his sister, Mrs. Maud Roberson.

Mrs. Helen Mueller of McAllen, Tex. is spending two weeks visiting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs.

J. B. Karraker and family spent' last week at Eaglehurst Ranch at Huzzah. Oscar Keller and son Karl and family of Lancaster, Ohio, visited friends and relatives here the past week. Mrs.

Matt Holdmeyer is spending her vacation i in Canton. Ohio, visiting her sister, Mrs. Lester Unger, and husband. Rev. and Mrs.

A. W. Maack and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Maack of St.

Louis are spending their vacation with relatives in Florida. Clifford. Holtmeier and Overschmidt returned Thursday from a four-day trip to Detroit, Mich. R. H.

Brown and son, Larry, left last Thursday for Villa Ridge, Ill. to attend funeral services for Mr. Brown's brother, Armin Brown. Mrs. Minna Smith, Mrs.

Louisa Keller and Miss Rosa Fink of Mt. Vernon, are spending this week with relatives and friends here. Sixty-three members of the Van Leer family gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Van Leer, Beaufort, for their annual reunion and basket dinner Sunday.

Richard Helling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Helling of Pacific, spent the weekend here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.

W. Helling and attended the horse show Saturday night. Guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Schink and sons last week were Mr.

Schink's sister, Mrs. Dallas Garman, and Mr. Garman of Vienna, Ohio and Mrs. Elma Emrich, Warren, Ohio. Mr.

and Mrs. Robert Bartel and son Robbie of Columbia visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Bartel and Mr. and Mrs.

Clyde Williams and also called on Mrs. Gus Seamon Monday. Mrs. H. B.

Dickey and son David, accompanied by her uncle, John White, spent the weekend with relatives in Jefferson City and also attended the fair at Sedalia Sunday. Miss Jeanette Kampen of O'Fallon, Ill. spent the past week with Sandra Julius at the Norvil Julius home. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs.

Otto Kampen came for their daughter and were accompanied home by Sandra, who will spend this week with the Kampens. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carroll and family of Sioux City, la. are visiting friends and relatives 1 here this week.

Mrs. Chas. Pfeiffer returned to her home Saturday from Hermann where she spent the past three weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Martin and family.

Mrs. Pfeiffer is recovering from injuries suffered in a fall in which her left arm was fractured. Mrs. Cy Murray and children, Cy Eddie and Jane, left Wednesday to spend the remainder of the week with Mr. and Mrs.

Edw. Bear in Berkeley City. Mrs. Bear will be remembered as Miss Nan Kennedy former teacher in the Union schools. Mrs.

Virginia Deitsch and two children, Gary and Rita, left for their home in Cincinnati Wednesday morning. Mrs. Deitsch has been spending a two-weeks' vacation in Union with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.

E. Griese, and the children have been in Camp Zoe. Attending the wedding of Amos M. Beinke and Miss Doris Fridley at Gerald Sunday evening were Mrs. J.

M. Moore, Mrs. Nettie Rippey, Mr. Mrs. Franz R.

Beinke, Mr. Mrs. Charles Otte and children, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schupp and Mr.

and Mrs. A. A. Steinbeck. Supt.

and Mrs. 0. E. Burke were advised Tuesday of the birth of their ninth grandchild, a girl, born to Mr. and Mrs.

Clyde Welch of North Kansas City. Mrs. Welch was Miss Eliabeth Burke. This is their second child and second. daughter, and the sixth granddaughter for Mr.

and Mrs. 0. E. Burke. The members of the Tuesday evening pinochle club met at the home of Mrs.

Harlan Johannaber this week with Mrs. Robert Coleman, Mrs. Edw. Bauche and Mrs. Fred Beckmann as additional guests.

Club prizes were awarded to Mrs. Karl Schink, Mrs. Walter Berger and Mrs. John Hall. Guest prize was won by Mrs.

Bauche. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Berrey re turned Monday from a two-week motor trip through western states. They visited the Black Hills, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon and other places of interest along the way.

Miss Mabel Kendrick of West Plains, sister of Mrs. Berrey, accompanied them on the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Art R.

Yoest were in St. Louis Sunday where Mr. Yoest attended a showing of, the new Admiral line at Brightman Distributing Co. They were accompanied to the city by Miss Sally Bassman who returned to her home after spending the past week here the home of her grandparents, Judge and Mrs. Edwin Hoemann.

Rev. and Mrs. Robert Manley and family entertained a group of Nazarene pastors and their families at an outdoor picnic at their home on MacArthur Ave. Monday evening. Those attending were Rev.

and Mrs. David Sparks and family, St. Charles; Rev. and Mrs. Doug Stratton, Wright City; Rev.

and Mrs. George Woodcock and son, Owensville; Rev. and Mrs. Harry Doerle, St. Clair, and Rev.

and Mrs. George Jackson of Union. Mrs. Mary Curry and granddaughter, Diane Dwyer of Houston, are visiting relatives here and in St. Louis this week.

Huddleston have moved to the farm near Union. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Barlage and their daughters, Geraine and Carmen, and their house guest, Marlene Krueger of New Haven, visited the State Fair at Sedalia Sunday. Sister Mary Cornelia of St.

Joseph's Order in St. Louis and Mrs. Marguerite Halter of Blytheville, visited their sister, Mrs. Gertie Copeland of Union last week. Mrs.

D. J. Banderet, son Daniel and daughter Gloria, of St. Louis, are spending a few days this week with Mrs. Banderet's parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Henry Fredrick near Beaufort. Mr. and Mrs. Edw.

Wiesendanger and daughter Susan returned Saturday from a three weeks vacation visiting relatives in Farmington, N. M. and sight-seeing in California. Mr. and Mrs.

James Russell and their daughters, Susan and Martha, Mrs. Willard Scroggs and son, Joni, and Patsy Jett, Penny Hayes and Terry Lindemann spent Sunday in Sedalia attending the State Fair. Rev. and Mrs. Robert Manley and Mr.

and Mrs. Clyde Calhoun spent Friday and Saturday in Nashville, where Mr. Calhoun will enter a Nazarene college in September. Mrs. Frank Fink was hostess to her pinochle club last Thursday evening.

Prizes were won by Miss Ida Clark, Mrs. Myrtle Nolting and Mrs. Bess Heeger. Mrs. Olettie Risk won the traveling prize.

Pvt. and Mrs. Graham Williams of Atlanta, are spending a tenday furlough here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Williams, and in St.

Clair with Mrs. Williams' parents, Rev. and Mrs. Wilmer Flora. Miss Terry Mintrup, accompanied by her grandfather, Julius Dufner of Union, and her aunt, Miss Hilda Dufner of St.

Louis, left Monday for a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Harms in Blue Island, a Chicago suburb. Mr. and Mrs.

H. F. Rohlfing and daughters, Misses Alby Mae and Doris, have returned from a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. Mr. Rolfing was on vacation but went back to his desk in the magistrate court Monday.

Little Stevie Robinson returned to his home in Union last Friday after spending almost a week at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Robinson and broke his arm in places in a fall while visiting his grandparents in Bourbon.

The injured arm is now in a cast and mending satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stoddard Lott announce the engagement of their daughter, Priscilla Jennings, to Donald Lee Singleton, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Rollo E. Singleton of Columbia. Miss Lott will be a junior at the University of Missouri where she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Priscilla Lott Engaged To Donald Singleton Mr. Singleton, who recently completed two years of service in the Air Force, will continue his studies at the University where his social fraternity is Phi Kappa Psi.

The wedding will take place Dec. 17. Miss Lott is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry P.

Jennings and the niece of Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Busch.

25, 1955 3A June Raaf Weds Lee Roy Licklider In St. Paul's, Gerald Miss June Rayette Raaf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Raaf of Gerald, and Le Roy Licklider of Sullivan, son of Mrs. Clara Licklider of Cuba, were married on Aug.

20 at the St. Paul Evangelical Church at Gerald. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Paul Schmidt at 2 p.m. The bride wore a dress of blue silk trimmed with white nylon and carried white roses on a white Bible.

She was attended by her sister, Miss Janet Irene Raaf of Gerald, who wore beige silk and carried pink carnations. Ira Licklider of Owensville, brother of the groom, was best man. The young couple will live at 123 Virgina Sullivan, where Mr. Licklider is employed. Circuit Court Hit By Summer Slump Not a single suit has been filed in circuit court the past week.

Court will convene on Sept. 2, the jury having been called to hear a damage The new, or September, term of circuit court will begin Sept. 26, the fourth Monday of the month, at which time the new petit jury will be called and the one now serving will be discharged. The suit to be heard Sept. 2 was filed by Dorothy Waresback of Kansas City against Art Glawson and the Midco Construction Co.

The defendant's answer admits the accident but denies all other allegations, claiming that any injuries sustained by the plaintiff were due to her own negligence. Mrs. Henry Herberholz left Union Sunday for New York where they will sail for Germany to visit relatives and friends of Mrs. Herberholz. They have passage on the North German Lloyd line and expect to be gone two and a half months. Philadelphia.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Barlage have broken ground for their new home on Drive. The house will be a 2- 2-bedroom ranch-type with redwood siding. Fred Kleinheider Washington is the contractor.

Mr. and Mrs. Barlage are now living on the Barlage Farm, Union Route 1, and will move to town as soon as the new house is completed. A family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
