Upper Des Moines Tuesday, July 26, 1966 Algona halted by Breda, 2-0 FONDA — Leonard Snyder shut out the Algona Bulldogs 2-0 in the first round of the Sub-State played here Wednesday night. The Bulldogs could do nothing with Snyder's slow stuff. Algona managed only two hits in the game, both by Craig Espe. Espe started the game for Algona but the load of pitching every game in the tournament made it necessary to for him to retire in favor of Larry Scobba, in the second. Scobba pitched good ball as he scattered six hits, but his teammates could come up with no runs off Snyder. Algona finishes the season with a 19-3 mark. Breda now stands at 14-9 and will face perennial state contender Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Friday night at Car- roll. ,TJ beat Shenandoah 15-1 Wednesday night. Breda will start its ace right-hander Mel Wernimont on the mound. ALGONA — (0) AB R H RBI Martin, c 3 0 0 11 .
