I LOEWS METROPOLITAN Constance Talmadge's new comedy drama, "Venus of Venice," is coming to Loew's Metropolitan Theatre for the entire week commencing next Monday. The story is one of a charming little madcap who, dominated by a crook, pursues a course of thievery among the canal gondolas with reckless abandon, her escapades plunging her into the companionship of an American artist, with unforseen consequences of a most exciting nature.

While "Venus of Venice" attains brilliant dramatic heights, the picture is for the most part in the lighter vein in which Miss Talmadge excels. Its setting, in modern Venice, is one that breathes ro- ORPHEUM THEATRE Dolores beautiful star of the screen again triumphs in most daring emotional role of her spectacular screen career, appearing in her greatest production, "A Million Bid," at B. F. Keith's Orpheum Theatre, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, June 27th to 29th. Selected News Events, Topics and Fables will be shown as usual.

The vaudeville program will' be made up of "The Dance Carnival of 1927," in a series of novel dances, with Chas. Root and Lilla Bay and the Root Steppers Bobby Randall, assisted by Joan Page, in "Jest-er Nice Layton May in a comedy skit, "At the Junction" Wilmont Sisters, in "Songs of Today and Yesterday," and Togo, in "A Sensational Slide on Rope From Second Balcony." The screen entertainment for Thursday to Sunday, June 30th, to July 3rd, will be characterized by a Robert Kane Special "Convoy," starring Dorothy McKail and Lowell Sherman, enacting on the screen epic naval battles of the World War. A two-reel comedy, "Buster Don't Forget" will also be shown. BROWN has been elevated to stardom by Louis F. Werba.

The promotion was made at the Colonial Theatre, Boston, where the comedian is appearing in "Twinkle, Twinkle." Brown celebrated his 25th anniversary on the stage Monday night. MISS PATRICOLA At New Brighton Theatre next week LUNA PARK Flaming Youth will hold sway in the Swimming Pool in Cuna Park on Friday afternoon, August 12th. This will be the third annual Red Head Bathing Beauty Contest held at this famous resort, which heretofore has made such a big hit. All bonafide red-headed girls and women should send their names to Carl Young, manager of the Pool, or call on him personally to enter this affair. Prominent stage people and city officials will be the judges.

Beginning on Friday, July 1st, the Swimming Pool will keep open until midnight every day in the week for the remainder of the season. This innovation was inaugurated last summer and proved a great success for tired business people of both sexes, who took advantage of bathing in the largest and cleanest fresh salt water pool in the world. Marie Louise Zimmerman, diving champion of western England, who has just arrived in this country to take a leading role in the girl scout movement, graced the last week with her sensational high diving. She said it was the finest pool she had ever had the pleasure of appearing in. The sensational production of the Battle of Chateau Thierry continues to be the leading attraction in Luna Park and is conceded to be the hit of the season on Coney Island.

Other popular attractions include the Broadway Review, Spiritland, Auto Polo, Mile Sky Chaser, Chute-the-Chutes, which is now celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary and is just as popular as a decade ago. Adele Nelson, with her three baby elephants; the Eugene Randow Trio, John Agee with his horses and trained bull, and DeMarlo and Marlette round out an excellent bill in a well balanced circus. THE LITTLE HASTINGS TWINS, Barbara and Ardele, aged ten, recently seen in "George White's Scandals," are preparing for a brief vaudeville tour in a comedy playlet now being writen for them. Patty Hastings, an older sister, formerly a member of the "Twinkle Twinkle" cast, will appear with them. Throughout the solid year's run of "Scandals," the Hastings twins never missed a single performance.

FRED AND ADELE ASTAIRE arrived Tuesday on the S.S. Majestic after two years in "Lady, Be Good," in England. They will start work on the new musical comedy which Alex. A. Aarons and Vinton Frecdley are fashioning for their use.

Harry Fox will make his first seashore appearance in several seasons.

He will (present a musical comedy by William Collier entitled "The Bee and the Fox." Beatrice Curtis will have the leading feminine role and there will be a chorus that the comedian is pleased to describe as "Six Beautiful Girls." Patricola, the girl with the roguish eyes, will play her annual engagement in a new cycle of character songs. Violinist and singer, she combines her talents in humorous themes that are just naughty enough to be interesting. Charles Withers will offer "Withers' Opry," a travesty on the old-time variety, in which the comedian is seen as the town hall proprietor, stage crew and general utility man. It is a stage-on-a-stage performance and the show proper consists of a tabloid version of "Romeo and Juliet," a moving picture, an exhibition of magic and one of marksmanship. The mechanical mishaps are said to provide the basis for most of the fun.

The cast supporting Withers includes Walter Turner, May Upton, Edward Porter, Richard Bishop, May Allen and George Schuler.
